Ceci Connolly, who suggested that U.S. aid contributions were stingy in comparison to the nearly $1 billion of federal relief that poured into the state of Florida during last year's hurricane epidemic, which killed a mere 100 Americans.

At the risk of sounding callous, we should be spending more on aid for Americans than we do in foreign disasters.

How much UN aid or aid from any other countries made it to Florida? I'm betting it was $0.0.

Using Connolly's math, a contribution proportionate to the 120,000 deaths reported so far in the tsunami crisis would compel the U.S. to donate $1.2 trillion in disaster relief to the affected countries.

Connolly should rethink her math.

I saw him do this today. It was sweeeeeeet! It's the second time in a week that he's slapped Ceci down with the facts. Of course, she had no idea what she was slapped with. Ceci has never seen a fact before.

I'd be satisfied if we would just limit immigration such that all America-born Americans could actually find jobs. Why do we insist on artificially supporting land owners and multinational businessmen with depressed labor costs? That's not capitalism, it's anti-Americanism.

Sure we help the world. Why do we have to invite them here, too? I'm tired of this outmoded "give me your tired" business.

Sounds like common sense to me.

I would like to ask Conolly, Annan, and Egeland how much foreign aid the state of Florida received for its hurricane damage. Also, how much foreign aid does the U.S. receive for tornado damage? On second thought, don't bother asking them. The answer "none" will stick to the roof of their mouths like peanut butter.

"At the risk of sounding callous, we should be spending more on aid for Americans than we do in foreign disasters."

Nothing callous, there. Nothing. We had better be taking care of our own first.

When Charles mentioned the ' US has 6% of the world population, but provides more than 60% of the world aid', Cici tried to quickly recover with, 'but we use most of the world's resources', which I thought was a typically liberal tactic of changing the topic to something that has no bearing on anything.

No mention of course that -- with only one other nation, Australia, ever standing steadfastly at our side -- despite our nation having expended Trillions of Dollars and the lives of hundreds of thousands tidying up leftover british and other old-Euro-peon colonial f***-ups and rescuing the rest of the bloody world from itself and from ther consequences of its own actions and defending it and feeding it for more than one hundred years not one of the Euro-peon Neo-Soviets squalidly fasciSSocialistic satellite staes nor any of the rest of the world has ever donated a single brass Razoo to American disaster relief!

I'm increasingly coming to despise ungrateful ingrates!

A knucklehead is required on every show.
Might as well be Ceci, she's harmless when spewing up easy to discredit information.

At the risk of sounding callous,

It sounds horrible, but you're not being callous enough. This post addresses the logic well:

I am constantly amazed at how generous we are, but have long since given up on being recognized for it by the rest of the world.

Consider all that we've been through in the last few years. We had 9/11 and then have fought two wars. We had...well, I lost count on how many hurricanes we had. We've had as much death and destruction as any country, any people on the planet, yet we still find it within ourselves to contribute money, manpower(person power?), etc. to the victims of the tsunami, in addition to the aid we normally contribute world wide. And you know, if any country, even those who profess to hate us, were to ask for help, we'd be there.

We are a good, kind and decent people and we don't need acknowledgment to do the right thing. No good deed goes unpunished, but that doesn't stop us from doing the right thing.

I'm so glad Krauthammer is on our team. He is always right on target with the numbers and his commentary.
