The next time one of these talking heads says the word "neocon" on television I hope the host asks him or her to define that word.

The "intellectual" neocons are the second-generation babies of the Partisan Review. Kristol, Podhoretz and Krauthammer, Frum among others. They got their pulpits and mastheads from Mumsy and Dadsie and family pull in NYC and DC publishing. Since they are so closely related through family connections, and since they happen to be mostly Jewish, they can holler "antisemitism" anytime someone criticizes neos . Code word, dontcha know.

They joined forces with Biden, Albright and McCain to get us involved in the Balkans, with the result that we now have a powerful Albanian Muslim outpost in that area. This is what is known as "hegemony"--another code word that might get you called an antisemite.

I am all for a "post neo" consevatism. It is time to transcend not only the paleos, but the neos as well. Time to find a pro-American policy that would have kept us out of the Balkans--and a supportive conservative policy for traditional protection of values--life and liberty as well as property.

Frum was one of the neos that tried to feather his literary nest while working in the Bush admin, with the result that he got his butt kicked out the WH door. Now this pro-choicer is running the traditionally Catholic National Review.

Hope that is helpful.

I will define it for you, just in case you don't already know. The Neo-Consevatives are not real conservatives, they are liberals intellectuals who are hawks on wars, and they have special interest in defending Israel's Lekude party. Richard Perle, and William Kristol are among the most prominent names, and Sen. McCain is essentially an opportunist who joins any controversy to keep his name in the news.

A neo-con is a socially liberal warmonger.

You wouldn't be alone. The word "neocon" has been expropriated by media dullards to mean something quite unlike its original meaning, which was a description of someone who had come to conservatism after some defining event which tended to move forward as people got older. For some such people as Sidney Hook and Whitaker Chambers were "neocons" in their day; for others it was anyone after William Buckley's "God And Man At Yale," for others still it was anyone coming to a conservative viewpoint after Barry Goldwater.

How it came to be applied to such as William Kristol is more a thing of amusement than curiosity. The term today has lost all descriptive value and is used exclusively as a pejorative. It might as well be "poopoo-head," it's just about that deep. All IMHO, naturally - anyone who prefers this sort of catchphrase is welcome to it.
