Brainy girls have marriage handicap

A HIGH IQ is a hindrance for women wanting to get married, while it is an asset for men, according to a study by four British universities.

The study found the likelihood of marriage increased by 35 per cent for males for each 16-point increase in IQ.

But for females, there was a 40 per cent drop for each 16-point rise.

The findings, by the universities of Aberdeen, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow, were published in Britain's Sunday Times newspaper.

The study was based on the IQs of 900 males and females between their 10th and 40th birthdays.

Paul Brown, a psychologist and professor at Nottingham University, told the Sunday Times: "Women in their late 30s who have gone for careers after the first flush of university and who are among the brightest of their generation are finding that men are just not interesting enough."

Writer and broadcaster Claire Rayner said intelligent men often prefered a less brainy partner.

"A chap with a high IQ is going to get a demanding job that is going to take up a lot of his energy and time.

"In many ways he wants a woman who is an old-fashioned wife and looks after the home, a copy of his mum in a way."

Shoes, the size that doesn't seem to change much regardless of how much the body girth increases. And that's what it is with the shoes!

I would bet the farm that devout religious folk are more fertile.

I've seen welfare moms pop 'em out year after year. THAT'S scary.

They also tend to ascribe to liberal morality which is not favorable towards marriage. Combine these two and you have alot of smart women and smart men who will probably never have a successful relationship in their life, much less a marriage.

We should feel blessed these people aren't procreating! :-)

Alot of the brainy girls in Seattle tend to date and/or marry potheads who are less successful than they.

Is a college degree a path to being a rounded individual by learning about stuff beyond a mere vocation. (literature, math, history, polictics, sciences) or is it just a ticket to enter a job. (lawyer, social worker, government job)? You don't, per chance, do recruiting for a liberal arts college, do ya? LOL...

I knew alot of girls who could speak Greek when I was growing up...a suggestion, start attending an Orthodox church.

There, my 'mom' work is done...

. Not all career women are especially brainy, not all old-fashioned wives are stupid.

"the proper care and feeding of husbands" By Dr. Laura
gives up all the secrets to allow even the smartest
professional women to become magicians at handling men.

**Say. . .around age 40 and, of course, no man will be interested in her at that time. . .and for good reason. **

What reason?

If a guy wants kids, and for whatever reason he hasn't managed to marry by his mid-30's, he's better start looking at younger women.

Not every man who wants to marry young, succeeds in doing so. I wanted to marry in my late teens or early 20s yet was unable to find a suitable partner (with a HIGH IQ) til I was 38. When I was younger, I pursued women my own age, mainly, and sometimes those several years older than myself. However, by the time I had reached my mid-30's, pretty much all the women my own age had (a) already been married at least once, and (b) already had all the children they ever wanted. So I had no choice but to start looking for younger women.

If by some horrible turn of events I had remained single til 40, there's NO WAY I would've even CONSIDERED a 40 year old woman. But if I hadn't wanted kids, that would have been different.
