Man With Loaded Rifle Arrested In One Penn Plaza JANUARY 01ST, 2005

Police Friday arrested a man armed with a rifle inside a building a few blocks south of Times Square.

The incident happened around 6:30 last night at One Penn Plaza, across the street from Penn Station.

Police answering a 911 call about a man with a gun inside the plaza say they found him on the 12th floor. According to the officers who made the arrest, the man had a loaded, bolt-action military rifle.

Investigators say the man worked in the building, and gave up without a struggle.

The 'kid' does not have a great radio presence. He needs to write for a conservative magazine rather than speak on the radio.....

I presume you both mean Alex Wilkow (sp). If so, the kid needs to quit the talk/info business for goos and get a job that matches his talent...like pushing cell phones at the mall.

Actually Whitman had a variety of weapons. "Whitman's trunk contained a sniper rifle and numerous other weapons including the sawed off shotgun for close-in use, deodorant, a radio, shaving gear, snack food and other items." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Whitman

I absolutely concur with you on the effectiveness of the .30 M1 Carbine. I know the rifle well since my USMC trained father taught me to shoot with one when I was 10. :)

I wish I could take credit for the "vote from the rooftops" line. The line has been around a while in the RKBA set. There are even t-shirts with the phrase and a picture of a Barrett .50 rifle.

Schumer, Feinswine and others of that ilk fear that the cross hairs may end up on their center of mass when the peasants decide to vote from the rooftops.

Quash this sort of stuff.

Voting from the ballot box seems to be doing just fine.

His name is Andrew, and I like his commentary but his voice grates.

I will not quash this stuff. Not on your request, or that of any other. Its nothing less than what the founders designed. See Hamilton in the Federalist #29.

That's fine, it's your marginalization.

We've been steadily improving the exercise of the RKBA (repeal of AW Ban, CCW in all but a handful of states, serious discussion of other rollbacks), we're electing Republicans like crazy -- all by simply voting in greater numbers and campaigning smarter -- and you're advocating armed rebellion?

Go for it. Pack a lunch.

Does the Great One have his own website?

Contrary to your opinion, RKBA is not doing all that well. Glad that you and others have CCW. Great for you. Great to know that our President would sign an AWB if it was presented to him.

The plain fact is that the 2nd Amendment is not the law of the land. Many states now fail to recognize the supremacy of the US Constitution, and the Federal courts will not enforce the Constitution on the States. When we get a Federal judiciary that will do its duty, OK then maybe time to celebrate. When we get unconstitutional laws repealed (and there are many) then we can throw a party.

I am not here to bash Bush. But let's get real about the facts.

Someone on the LIVE New Year's Eve thread mentioned this, they must have been watching NY news. I'll try to find it. I read it and went and told my husband but then I hadn't heard it mentioned again (though admittedly I've been away from news).

Found it (pinging oceanview, citing your post):

I see. You want it all at once, while I am more patient, knowing that incrementalism, working one way, will also work the other.

Different approaches. Just hold off on your Charles Whitman impression while we do our thing, 'kay?

Thanks for the comparison to a murdering psycho. And, yes I do want more than I have now in the way of Constitutional rights. What I worry about, is that we will go away from this election fat, dumb and happy and not get the job done in terms of legislative agenda and judicial appointments.

Yep, Andrew, I knew that. I can't take him at all. He's already as self-referential as Hannity with absolutely no under-pinnings to justify it. The conservative talk show host bench must be dismally shallow if this kid gets air time in NYC. Mark Simone is really good at this substitute host business....Happy New Year.

This article is pure propaganda, both for how it characterizes the few actual facts presented, and for the questions it leaves unanswered.

It seems pretty straightforward to me and not designed to hype or instill fear. There was indeed a man arrested there with a loaded rifle. He was not at his home cleaning it as your completely unrelated fantasy scenario describes. It seems the propaganda is coming from you.

Okay. Sorry about that; that wasn't fair. But still, let's go a little easier on that harsh rhetoric until (and actually at this point, *IF*) we cannot get any progress the more peaceful way. But for now -- what a way to mess up our good progress in this arena!

And, yes I do want more than I have now in the way of Constitutional rights. What I worry about, is that we will go away from this election fat, dumb and happy and not get the job done in terms of legislative agenda and judicial appointments.

I don't think we're likely to get PhatDumbAndHappy, we're more likely to really get something done this term. As an example of past successes, I give you the repeal of the AW Ban. Wonderful news by any scoring system!

Simone fills in for just about everyone and he's a breath of fresh air in the morning. I cannot bear to listen to Kuby and love the days when Mark is subbing.

Brian Whitman used to be more fun but he's gone off the deep end.

There are some great hosts around the country, be nice if we got a chance to listen to people from across America now and then.

Sean is insufferable and when he encourages callers to say he should run for President I just shake my head at his hubris.

No propaganda at all from me. Others here note the missing details (typical in this kind of reporting) even if you don't. I suggest you look here...http://www.alphecca.com/mt_alphecca_archives/000804.html

The missing details? It is a spare, straightforward report that, contrary to your "propaganda" charge, was not designed to incite panic or fear.

It's a mundane report that obviously rang your bell.
