San Francisco Considers Handgun Ban

SAN FRANCISCO — The city that bucked state law and sanctioned gay marriage is now taking aim at the constitutional right to bear arms by proposing a ban in San Francisco on private ownership of all handguns.

"When you get guns out of people's homes and off the streets, it means that that gun is not going to be used in a shooting that kills someone, whether a murder or an accidental shooting," said Chris Daly, supervisor of San Francisco.

The day handguns are banned in SF is the day I will never set foot in that city again. I already can hardly stand to go there.

Is it stupidity or something worse? I mean, how could someone actually be that stupid? A lot of things are illegal aleady, and that hasn't stopped people from doing/having them.

Something worse. A disarmed populace needs its elected officials to pass more and more laws to make them feel safe. Daly and his peers dream of oligarchy, of using government power to "do good".
