Saudi executed and crucified Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabian authorities Friday beheaded and crucified a Saudi national convicted of killing and robbing his mother. The Saudi Press Agency quoted an Interior Ministry statement that said the convict was executed and crucified in public in the southern province of Baha. Friday's beheading brought to 34 the number of people executed this year in Saudi Arabia, mostly smugglers. Earlier this month an Iraqi and three Pakistani drug smugglers were beheaded in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah. Executions of people convicted of murder, rape, armed robbery and drug trafficking are conducted in public, in line with Shariah, the legal code of Islam, which is applied in the conservative Muslim kingdom. Some 52 people, including expatriates, were executed in Saudi Arabia in 2003.

In this case, silence is certainly golden. Heh heh heh...
I think Ron Popeil is selling these things on late night TV, along with rotisserie ovens and flavor injectors.
What if your mother is an American?
sounds like what we should start doing in America to traitors ...
lets start with Michael Moore !
Could you please dial 1-800-slicmup, and explain to the proper state representative where they can pick one up. P.S. Do they ship overnight???

The perp got off easy. Had it happened in Baghdad they would have put panties on his head.
... but not your daughter or sister if honor is involved, and not your wife irrespective of considerations of honor...
Saudi Arabia... "What a country!"
Still seems like over kill what with the internet and all. I'm sure some of their country men could video tape the beheading and post it on their website or broadcast it on Al-jazz.
Wish I could find the stiry, but a Saudi Royal in the recent past WAS in line for an execution. As I remember the story, a man the royal offended (can't remember the exact charge, but loss of life was involved) pleaded piteously that the royal be spared as he'd finally decided to 'forgive' him. The ruling authorities honored the wish and the royal was spared.
helps being a royal eh?
I think we'll have the lamb chops some other night...
I used to watch BBC World News on a PBS channel for quite a while before the inspectors went into Iraq. They were reporting and showing footage related to assorted beheadings in Iraq. Seemed to be mostly women that they beheaded and crowds were brought in to watch; and, sometimes the head of a woman or girl was hung in a public arena as a reminder to others.
Also, someone told me that there is a film called "The Butcher of Baghdad" about Hussein, but I haven't seen it.
It's a widely known fact that there were courses taught at these Al Qaeda terrorist camps in Afghanistan where individuals were trained to assassinate foreign dignitaries/government officials, primarily, those in Muslim-Arab nations.
In fact, after Operation Enduring Freedom had driven the Taliban out of Afghanistan, a lot of these tapes were seized and handed over to American/Western intelligence agencies.
I know for certain that some-less radical-elements of the Saudi royal family, e.g. the faction surrounding Prince Bandar, have been targets, in the past.
The closest they ever came to actually bagging one of their "prizes", was in 1995, when Hosni Mubarak was nearly incinerated by an Al Qaeda murder plot that culminated in an attempt on his life in Addis Ababa.
