A touching report from Jennifer Griffin reporting on FOX News today.

Did anyone see Jennifer Griffin reporting from a tribute in Thailand today? It was one of the most human moments I have seen from a live reporter. She is a great reporter and has pretty much been everywhere and seen all kinds of tragedies. But today she broke down while doing a report at midnight from a gathering for the victims. The enormity of it all finally got past her professionalism and she broke down, but still got through the report. Bless her heart. It was heartbreaking to see.

Was the the first time you've seen one of her reports?
I've been watching her for a long time and have never seen any display of emotion from her. I honestly think she was deeply moved by the enormity of this tragedy.

No, I have Fox on in the background most of the time. I watched one of her earlier broadcasts where her biggest problem seemed to be that the bodies stunk.
She may have initially had a pang of emotion while making that broadcast, but I think that after the original bit of emotion it occurred to her that it was working and decided to keep the emotion flowing rather than trying to suppress it.
In any case, I turned the channel at that point, because I found her presentation over the top and unprofessional, worse than the crap that Geraldo does.

Do you think Cronkite was making it up when he teared up over JFK?
Golly. Yeah, sometimes people fake tears, but they have to be pretty sick. Journalists are an ambitious lot, but I do not know any that would fake emotion.
If anything, showing tears on air would make a news director question if you can handle the stress of spot reporting.
Get over yourself.

Yes, it was touching. But I've always cautiously watched her reports from Israel. I detect a smidge of bias towards the Palestinians in her reports.

I saw this yesterday morning and it made me break down. She's traumatized, as I suspect we all would be.

I heard Jennifer Griffin two days after the disaster, standing on a beach beside the body of a Thai lady, talking to a tourist. She was bitching that she couldn't believe that bodies were still there after two days, and wanting to know what officials were doing by not picking them up. FOX pulled those words after the first broadcast of them. I wrote a snail mail letter to them asking that she get a little more training before they allow her to say really stupid thing on the air.

As a woman, I can say that unless she's an Oscar caliber actress, that report was genuine. She was tired, overwhelmed by all the death and sorrow and she was talking past a lump in her throat about the size of a semi and on the verge of bawling her eyes out. She did an admirable job and managed to get through the report w/o actually losing it.
