A touching report from Jennifer Griffin reporting on FOX News today.
Vanity

Posted on 12/31/2004 4:24:21 PM PST by Shepster

Did anyone see Jennifer Griffin reporting from a tribute in Thailand today? It was one of the most human moments I have seen from a live reporter. She is a great reporter and has pretty much been everywhere and seen all kinds of tragedies. But today she broke down while doing a report at midnight from a gathering for the victims. The enormity of it all finally got past her professionalism and she broke down, but still got through the report. Bless her heart. It was heartbreaking to see.

I can only imagine how hard it is to maintain your professionalism and not break down at the sites we have seen...imagine being there and seeing, smelling, tasting it all! She does an excellent job and I appreciate her emotion as much as her great reporting.
I am sure it being the holiday season doesn't help when you realize all those families will never be the same...not one!

Poor thing.

She's always been my favorite at Fox News.

I'm glad to see a reporter who still has his/her feelings, instead of being numbed off into chasing stardom and an anchor spot.

Wish I could've seen it but our tv has been on bowl games all day. Oh well, after tomorrow, most of the football will be over.

I did see that and it was so refreshing to see a reporter show emotion in all this, while maintaining her professionalism. I think of her as the female Steve Harrigan, always in the toughest places and circumstances. Just like NYC after 9/11, the absolute hardest part to watch are survivors posting pictures of the missing in the vain hope that they will be found.

I looked at her career history. Her rise to the top was insanely fast.

And that was with her starting out in newspaper. It took her less than 10 years to make it to such a big org as FNC. That is incredible.

True. Many are taught not to show emotion in times of crisis also, however. It is nice to see it when they do break down though.

14 of 200 of the inhabited islands have been wiped off the earth...it will be catastrophic...the Italians treat the Maldives as the Swedes do Thailand...it will be a catastrophic loss for Italy. I have been there...I have seen hundreds of these islands...they are basically fishing villages inhabited by women and children while the men go offshore for weeks at at a time on their DOHIs (type of boat)...the Maldivians are hiding a VERY very ugly story because they have NO infrastructure except for ONE island of Male.

When I was there the tourists flew in and out on sea planes...many stayed for a few days on different islands in little bungalows over the water...very isolated and pristine islands.

It is going to catastrophic loss.

I think she was also the reporter that got choked up while reporting from a bomb scene at a restaurant in Israel. She has seen it all...and then some. Bless her heart.

"It was heartbreaking to see."

I thought it was fake and stupid and turned the channel.

Amy Kellogg is a terrorist apologist. Maybe she had to be that way to survive as a reporter in the West Bank, but I have no respect for her.

A "TERRORIST APOLOGIST?"

After years of looking at dead bodies and bodies parts on reports, jihad websites, etc; I find her reporting fresh and insightful.

You sir, I respectfully submit; are totally full of B.S.

Well that's your choice. I thought it was spontaneous and heart felt. Unless you are there and have seen first hand what she has seen how can you say what she has in her heart or wheter she was "faking it"? Go back in your cave dude.

Agreed. She goes from covering homicide bombers in Israel to this tsunami horror in Asia. God bless her, for sure.

She has reported that she has vacationed in the area with her family in the past. Most likely, she is taking this personal if she formed any relationships with the locals.

Amy Kellogg is a terrorist apologist.

Upon Arafat's death, that sniveling little moonbat was offering her heartfelt condolences to the Pali spokepeople she was interviewing. It was obvious who was truly the one in mourning. Hanan Ashwari surely gets a good belly laugh over airhead Amy's reports.

You were buying her act and I was not. Neither of us can be 100% sure whether or not it was fake, but it sure was stupid and unprofessional. Apparently, some people eat that stuff up.
