I am relocating to San Antonio in a few weeks from Cleveland. I will be working in Leon Valley. We plan to sell our home in Cleveland and move the whole family down in June. Any thoughts on the city and area from residents or past residents? Areas to avoid? Please post your relevant experiences.
Guy wants directions...
I don't have time to give a long response right now, but in a few hours I'll be much more forthcoming...
It's a big city - 8th or 9th in the country.
In April, go find Willow Loop Road, north of Fredericksburg, off highway 16. You won't believe your eyes (bluebonnets everywhere).
Live in Northeast side. Avoid the south side.
North of Loop 410, from, say, 281 to I-35 is growing and has very nice safe areas.
Beat me to it!
Dang, yer quick!
Best mexican food is not along the riverwalk.
After having lived in Cleveland he's worried??
Lot's to see and do. Enjoy it! As a native Texan living in Florida, I really envy you.
I'm not a resident, have only been an occasional visitor.
But my brother has lived in Sequin for the past 25 years and loves it.
His advise? Put in a backyard pool. And stay off the road when they get their annual half-inch snowfall, it's a demolition derby there.
North West Loop 1604 is growing absolutely amazingly fast. 281 is the highway to the hill country for weekend retreats, and you're never too far from downtown SA, or to zip over I10 to Galveston or 37 down to Corpus Christi beaches...
Can't be more centrally located!
Alamo Heights is very safe and family-friendly. Also check out Olmos Park and Terrell Hills. Each of these are actually their own little cities located within the city of San Antonio. Good luck on your move!
If you don't mind a bit of a commute, I'd check out the small towns in the area---Boerne comes to mind. It's a delightful small town, with excellent schools. From Boerne to the center of San Antone is about 30 miles.
The outer belt of Cleveland is quite nice and very family friendly.
Still to close.
After having lived in Cleveland he's worried??Well for one thing the bugs here aren't big enough to have names (one good thing about winter I suppose).
You'll find that most people who leave this area don't really do so by choice.

Live North, Northeast, Northwest is fine too. North of 410, even up to 1604. Nice area, hills, schools etc. Solid Republican areas.
OW!
It was a joke, sugar....
OW!
You know I love your mother...
