"Do you really believe Congress is going to appropriate the funds for meaningful enforcement?"

If you'd been following my posts, you wouldn't have asked such a ridiculous question.

Putting more money into *existing* border enforcement won't cut it. We have to be smarter than that. We have to do something other than mere brute force.

In fact, what we have to do is to convince illegals, who are currently anonymous, to register themselves and their employers.

There is a plan out there that accomplishes that goal.

Get the illegals (and their employers) registered. It takes far fewer resources to verify compliance once employers and illegals are registered than it does to track down anonymous fugitives.

Think. Be smart. Get them registered.

You didn't answer the question about the next wave of illegals who'll be flooding the border if this goes through.
But this is not a good time to be discussing this for me. I just bought two cords of firewood from a guy who got bumped from his job as a concrete finisher. Seems his employer switched over to a crew of illegals. I wonder if he'll report the income from me?

" Think. Be smart. Get them registered."

Are you nuts? What do you think, illegals who never registered before, who bought SS numbers and fake documents, who don't speak English, who live in isolated barrios, and who realize if they give a correct address, it ill allow them to be picked up for other crimes, are all going to suddenly register?

I guess your Bush solution is two phased: Step one: 1) impotent laws that are an effective amnesty and promote a border rush, followed by 2) strict border enforcement when it is too late.
