This is NOT the "greatest tragedy since Noah." It is not even in the top ten of natural disasters. And of course it is not in the top 20 if man-made disasters, like the Holocaust and the famine in the Ukraine, are included.

This is not to minimize, in any way, the tragedy of at least 120,000 lives lost, and probably much more before it is ended. It is to remind all reporters, and bloggers ARE reporters of a special type, that accuracy counts, and that context matters.

It is another instance of bad reporting ("worst disaster since whatever") leaking over from the MSM into the blogosphere. We've got to check them all the time, not just some of the time.

Your right. The msm/lib elite trashed accuracy and context years ago. It's up to bloggers and sites like fr to keep em(msm) on their "collective" toes. We can't expect honesty,but at least we have them looking over their shoulders.
