We could also do much worse....look at Slick Willie, Carter, etc. I will wait until the candidates have been chosen to see what the options are for 2008 before I pass judgment.

"I for one would not vote for Rudy."

I said the same about GW, but the decision of who is the "anointed one" for the next election is usually made by the party heads.

The Republican Party is no longer conservative.

If you don't mind my asking, then who WOULD you vote for if Rudy became the GOP's candidate in 2008? Nobody? A conservative Third Party (say, Constitution or Libertarian)?

I myself yould like to see J.C. WATTS become the Republican nominee. He's an honorable, intelligent man whose personality shines!

Same here. There are much better candidates out there.
No Guiliani or Schwarzy.

Besides his personal problems, Rudy is basically a smarter, slightly more conservative on crime Ed Koch.

In 90% of the country Rudy would have run as a democrat. Only in NYC would a moderate Democrat run as a republican.

Lindsey and Bloomberg were/are also Republicans.

I don't hold apprehensions about Rudy Giuliani - he has great people appeal, but I prefer steady Steve Forbes.
