I wonder if they had to wait for the results of the exit polling of their disenfranchised constituents to come back before they finally responded.

I've had my share of draft reports thrown back at me time and again for "minor corrections," but 3-1/2 weeks polishing one up is a bit ridiculous.

I think this is more a case of, "He may be an embarrassment, an incompetent, a sellout, and an Uncle Tom, but it's our job to say so. Back off."

I question the timing. If they truly were angry at Reid they would not announce it when it would be buried by tsunami coverage.

This is intended as sarcasm... but you never know.

Okay. I should be expecting similar statements from the CBC about Ted Rall, right? Aaron MacGruder?

You get my point.

I don't always agree with CT, but his presence on the court has helped it in many ways. I was very happy with the cross-burning case, for example. He had a grasp of the problem that some of the others on the court just couldn't see. Overall, I like his conservatism, too.

I wish Reid would give us something more concrete. Why did he say this? We can't expect to agree with every supreme court decision, or even like every justice. That kind of criticism requires an explanation, especially one so public.

Took them long enough

They just needed to be on record to have made a complaint

It's all about politics

I certainly think Reid is wrong about Justice Thomas. I don't think he's an embarrasment at all.

However - what if someone thought he was? How is that racist? If I thought someones opinions were poorly written, how exactly is that about race?

And why are so many FReepers gladly jumping on to this race-baiting bandwagon?

Of course, if their constituents were truly disenfranchised, they wouldn't have factored into any exit polls. [snicker]

Reid is a bigot. Where does he have proof for what he said? He's not said samiliar about white democrats and that's what makes it about race.

Do you really think Reid had to have a reason for what he said? He saw his chance to indulge in a little left-wing racism and to take a shot at President Bush, and he took it, figuring that he wouldn't be made to pay for his remarks. Unfortunately, he figured right.

Maybe because he called the black guy an "embarrassment", but then camne out and said he could support the white guy (Scalia), even though Thomas' and Scalia's opinions are generally very close to one another?

I'm not sure this is sarcasm, because in reality the Congressional Black Caucus has no power whatsoever in the current Washington, DC environment. Ditto for the NAACP. Regardless of the rantings of racists Jesse Jackson, John Conyers, Julian Bond, Maxine Waters, etc., American Blacks, in increasing numbers are realizing that "Being Black, Liberal and Democrat ain't cool, and it's certainly not where it's at." Hispanics and Asians is where it's at!!! American Blacks are no longer the largest minority group in the USA. Hispanics have that role, and will keep it for the foeseeable future. American Blacks have missed the train. It is pulling out of the station and they are not on it!!! That is the political reality of the world!!!
