I don't always agree with CT, but his presence on the court has helped it in many ways. I was very happy with the cross-burning case, for example. He had a grasp of the problem that some of the others on the court just couldn't see. Overall, I like his conservatism, too.
I wish Reid would give us something more concrete. Why did he say this? We can't expect to agree with every supreme court decision, or even like every justice. That kind of criticism requires an explanation, especially one so public.
Do you really think Reid had to have a reason for what he said? He saw his chance to indulge in a little left-wing racism and to take a shot at President Bush, and he took it, figuring that he wouldn't be made to pay for his remarks. Unfortunately, he figured right.
You surely don't expect the MSM to ask such questions, do you? Tim Russert made no attempt to follow-up at the time and no Capitol Hill reporter has sought clarification, either. Why? Because it might embarrass Senator Reid, of course.
Meanwhile, we and the conservative talk show hosts and the rest of the extremist right wing won't ever be able to ask the question, as Reid wouldn't dare expose himself to such an audience.
To do so, Reid would have had to have read at least one of CT's decisions. What do you think the chances of a political hack like Reid having read even one of those decisions, or that he would be able to point out a Constitutional flaw if there were one?
Reid was just playing the boilerplate stereotype that the Rats always play against black conservatives but he let his words slip off the narrow ledge to imply that all blacks are stupid. That's why he's getting his weinne whacked by the CBLC.
Coming from Nevada, Reid is simply not as experienced at playing the race card as the majority of Rats are.
