OAK BROOK, Ill. (AP) - McDonald's says it's considering more humane methods to slaughter chickens it buys for its restaurants.
The fast-food giant says it's studying the possibility of "controlled atmosphere killing," in which chickens are put to sleep with an inert gas, such as nitrogen or argon.
Bob Langert, McDonald's senior director of social responsibility says the company's animal welfare council suggested a study of the newer method. It would replace a slaughtering process in which chickens are hung by their legs on a moving conveyor line and pulled through an electrified vat of water.
Some of McDonald's European suppliers already use the newer method.
McDonald's will post the results of the study on its Web site by June 30th.
And a chicken sandwich will cost $10.00
Yeah but can they make sure we actually get chicken in sandwiches?
"controlled atmosphere killing "... to be politically correct
If McDonalds is planning on playing taps and sticking lit Marlboros in their beaks BEFORE executing the tasty b@stards, then THAT would clear my conscience...
Why don't they just buy already slaughtered and processed chickens?????????
Or they could do like the lady who butchers mine ... her son just shoots 'em.
Well choking chickens would be one method...
So, THAT'S "chokin' your chicken"? Never knew.
I thought in Europe they just choked them.
Hitting the with a Dodge Neon at 65 mph plucks them, too.
Can you guess what Ronalds favorite letter is? Can you guess what Ronalds favorite colors are? Can you guess what size shoe Ronald wears? Can you guess the number of different languages Ronald speaks? Can you guess the year that Ronald made his first appearance under McDonalds golden arches?
But what about the chicken? ;)
This reminds me of a South Park episode where they put all these turkeys in a room and showed them a nature video ala Soilent Green, and lopped off their heads with a giant buzz saw all at once.
Senior Director of Social Responsibility?
Politically Correct Job of the Day Award Winner.
