Thanks, Jim. For all that you've done, do and will continue to do in 2005. It's been a great year here at Free Republic.

"Then we would physically walk it over to a big bulletin board and pin in up. In order to keep track of which message went to which response, a piece of thread was used. That is how the term THREAD was born. Once in a while someone would get so mad at a persons message, they would set it afire. That is how the term FLAME was born."I am still laughing. I'm so glad I found this place. Happy New Year to every single one of you.

"When people would come over to the printing press room, they would need to toss a log into the fire to contribute to keeping the printing room warm. When someone did that, they were given a name and a password. Then someone would shout "Log In!". This is where the term LOGIN came from."
This cracked me up! The entire chronology is priceless, and probably much truer than we realize.
Happy New Year to all, another freeping good year ahead, God willing!

Same back at ya, fellah.
I was mislead by the title and the lead on this article. It implied that Lazamataz had become soft and smarmy in his old age. I found that hard to believe. And I was glad to find out that it was not so.
