Bush to Send Delegation to Asian Tsunami Region
9 minutes ago
CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) will send a delegation headed by Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) and the president's brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, to the tsunami-affected region on Sunday to assess the need for assistance, the White House said.
Bush on Wednesday said that a $35 million U.S. pledge for victims of the tsunami was only the beginning and any suggestions America was stingy were "misguided and ill-informed."
Critics have faulted the president, who has been on vacation at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, for not making a public statement sooner on the disaster that killed at least 125,000.
Seems like a smart plan- Jeb has had waaaaaay too much disaster experience this year...this should be a good team.
I think Jeb is a good person to send as he has experience with disaster relief and can't hurt any future political aspirations.
GW was busy at the ranch coordinating rescue and aid efforts by phone. I guess his critics didn't think he had one.
Oh the lengths they go...for dramatic impact they use the latest death toll to criticize the President for what he didn't do and didn't know days ago.
Send Hillary!
I think he is busy deciding on Judges to appoint :)
no, that's exactly who we do not want to send, we don't want to give her opportunities to increase her positive visibility as we head into 2008.
Let them all go to hell.
One of the Fox News Channel reporters asked Kofi Annan to his face if he was aware of criticism that he (Kofi) should have made a statement sooner.
The embezzler's answer: "It should be clear to anyone that I don't need to be in my office for me to be working on this."
If it is okay for Kofi to work on the tsunami from a ski slope, why can't Bush work on it from a Texas ranch?
One person: Leslie Gelb, New York Times editor, a Clinton appointtee and the man who helped what's his face edit the Pentagon Papers.
He is the ONLY person who has done that, therefore he's been on ALL the cables, all the shows.
Of course, the press is saying it, too, so it must be just everybody saying it, right?
I was more thinking of aftershocks and resultant tsunamis.
"If it is okay for Kofi to work on the tsunami from a ski slope, why can't Bush work on it from a Texas ranch?"
easy MSN formula answer: Kofi = Mandella, Bush = Hitler
you heart is in the right place.
Peter Fenn, liberal pantywaste, was on FOX earlier. He faulted President Bush for not speaking out early and fast enough about the SE Asia situation.
Heather Nauert reminded him very quickly that Kofi Baby had been off skiing for the last three days and only spoke out today.
The liberals have nothing to offer except criticism, so they can eat hard cheeze.
G
That's because Pres. Bush was taking action, not setting up photo ops and cocktail parties to discuss the issue. But facts mean nothing to the libs.
I saw that; she backed him right into a corner! By the end, he was babbling and reduced to platitudes.
