If you have an account at http://www.amazon.com giving a donation to the American Red Cross (earmarked for tsunami relief) is a click away. As easy as buying a book.

They broke their word regarding monies that were ear marked for 9/11 victims, so why would I trust them now?

I wouldn't!

Thanks. Pass along that USAID link.

Everyone can find something they like there. All those groups are in the area. OR their affiliates are.
Really, the all work together a lot.

I won't give a dime to the redcross. My Grandmother passed away while I was serving in Europe. My family immediately notified the redcross, but the redcross didn't notify me until two weeks later. Their excuse? They didn't think it was important enough to notify me right away.

Probably as a physician. I've heard him speak on his trips to Africa and in his mind he's always a Doctor first.

I'm concerned about the Red Cross too. They've turned into harsh critics of the US in Iraq and Gitmo.

I understand that the International Red Cross are bad guys and the American Red Cross are good guys. I further understand that the ARC has a fund going for this disaster.

Split it half and half. Nothing says America is great like a billion dollars from private citizens.
Anyways, I don't really care who I give my money to for diaster relief, even if it is big bad UNICEF.

Thanks for the additional info on the Red Cross. Elizabeth Dole is not necessarily my favorite Republican, but she was a recent ARC chief, after all, which suggests they can't be too anti-American.

Does the American Atheist Society have any people on the ground in that part of the world?

Catholic Relief Services

I just gave to them earlier today. I dislike the politics of so many of the organizations and noticed that the Red Cross is teaming up with their anti-American sister in this effort so I looked for an alternative. I am always impressed with the work Catholic organizations do in my community, so on that I chose them.

Was looking at the list and wondered if they will accept the money from the Jewish organizations? Didn't they reject physical help from Israel?

the www.amazon.com is the AMERICAN Red Cross.

The money goes to tsunami relief. It lis like buying a book.http://www.amazon.com

Or pick one you like at the USAID site. All the charities in the area are listed there. Often they work through local affiliates

http://www.usaid.gov/locations/asia_near_east/tsunami/ngolist.html

All will be hopefully able to get help from our service people and their helicopters, etc.
