Maybe you should go to Sri Lanka. Once there, the rat would not be what you would smell. The number are rising fast because A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE KILLED, and just like those who STOOD ON THE BEACHES, MOUTH WIDE OPEN, while the TSUNAMI came crashing down on them, we have a hard time ABSORBING WHAT HAPPENED.
The bigger the numbers the more cash GW will cut loose so not as to appear "stingy."
President BUSH will not cut loose with anymore of OUR TAX MONEY than the laws of our land allow, and the authority of his office allows. He would not 'give away' more of your money (override laws, and his authority) for the sake of appearance (not appearing stingy). You apparently do not know much of President Bush's history.
We should render aid no faster than it can be employed and keep our eyes sharp for those looking to cash in on a tragedy.
This is exactly what President Bush stated last night, and is very true.
This 'aid' is being done in a coordinated , and verifiable manner. President BUSH is handling one end of it, and the INTERNET is handling the other.
President BUSH got a COALITION AID + RESCUE (CAR) movement going, in less than one day, working with other nations to COORDINATE and EXPEDITE rescue and aid to the victims, to ensure aid was not ANNAN'd off, and that the help arrived as quickly as possible.
The internet is recording and providing as public info, all the AID inputs by the countries around the world.
EVERYONE can see in seconds WHO IS DONATING WHAT. There will be no questions, no accusations, later. It is public info RIGHT NOW.
Everything OUT IN THE OPEN, AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, to SAVE AS MANY LIVES AS POSSIBLE.
THAT is what our country says it is all about, and it is what President BUSH is about.
Months from now, hopefully you will read articles remarking on the speed and lifesaving accuracy with which help was delivered. (By us and all the other Coalition countries.)

Agreed. I bet there was a collective "WTF is THAT???" all over the IO as the wave spread out. One video I saw shows a perfectly level ocean on a lovely day and then this monster just rises out of the water and hits the beach. My first response would be to grab a board, paddle out and catch this sucker and my second response would be too late and that would be to run.
Who'd have been ready for this thing? I imagine it crashing ashore at Malibu and wiping out all the beach goers and liberals in their multi-million dollar beach houses as they stare all agog and realize that they, too, are not exempt from the laws of the universe. Being on a subduction zone that is only yards offshore in places, it could happen in California.
