My theory? Egland made the comment to get a lot of Americans upset and start thinking, "Oh yeah? We'll show you!" and start donating more. I think it might actually be working too.
If he was that smart would he be working for the UN? I guess he gets paid well.
Eglang meant every word he said. He also said we should have our taxes raised because the U.N. could spend it more effectively in these circumstances.
