Ashes are ejected from the crater of the Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka to a height of up to 2,000 m. The height of the ejection above sea level exceeded 5,000 m.
The seismic stations near the volcano register underground tremors from a depth of up to 5,000 m and interrupted spasmodic volcanic vibration.
For the greater part of the past 24 hours it was impossible to conduct video observation of Shiveluch because of bad weather but scientists hold the view that some ejections are accompanied by fragmentation avalanches.
Shiveluch (its height is 3,283 m) is now at the stage of active eruption

"Doesn't it have the world's largest population of grizzlies?"
Yes - this is where the Japanese photographer was eaten a few years back.

In fact, when I was in Kamchatka, there was grit everywhere. Seems there is always some level of volcano activity going on.

Problem is the likes of Lies666 and other apocalyptikooks attempt to promote the idea that "normal" is no volcanoes erupting, and any geological activity anywhere in the world is unusual and Sign of the End Times. BAM! Thank you!
There is a rising concern on FR over this nut.
I am still waiting for them to retract their lie that an Island in the Atlantic was wiped off the planet from the hurricanes this past fall.
They need to hit the Nuke button on this person. They are a previously banned poster.

I saw a show on Discovery a while back about the discovery of a WW II Navy bomber that had crashed there...when the recovery team went out..they had to post guards round the clock to watch for bears..

Yes - I think that may be the same one that I bought a small hand painted image of, which hangs in my kitchen.
Thanks for all the links. Please post more as you find them,

They need to hit the Nuke button on this person. They are a previously banned poster. This is a legit thread. Your issues with the poster are another matter - not germane to volcano talk.

LOL--hurricane season 2004 is caught somewhere between a blurred memory and a recurring nightmare around here. I vaguely recall some apocalyptic chants, and way too many armchair QBs calling plays from safe distances.
