HMmmmm.... I have doubts: why do you say it's a 'myth'
Because it a story meant to teach a moral lesson. Not a recounting of history. And in many ways, it is not even a very good story. The forbidden fruit was the knowledge between good and evil - what parent doesn't want their child to know the difference between right and wrong?
