Answer me this: If sea levels are rising, how does one island sink and its neighbors not?

I haven't done any research on Tuvalu...but there are a couple of things I can say.

First, more than one low-lying island or beachfront has reported rising sea levels.
Second, it's easy to suppose that local underground conditions could be causing Tuvalu, alone among its neighbors to sink. No different than one mountain turning into an active volcano while others nearby are quiescent.

So what? What does this prove? What do you think you know that the world's climate scientists don't?
