NEW YORK -- Susan Sontag, the author, activist and self-defined "zealot of seriousness" whose voracious mind and provocative prose made her a leading intellectual of the past half century, died Tuesday. She was 71.

Sontag died Tuesday morning, officials at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center said. She had been treated for breast cancer in the 1970s.

Sontag called herself a "besotted aesthete," an "obsessed moralist" and a "zealot of seriousness."

Some on those planes that crashed into the World Trade Towers did not know they were on a suicide mission. If you recall, Bin Laden chortled over that one. Thus, they could not be courageous. They were merely duped. As for the 'pilots,' they were deluded into thinking theirs was a noble cause and that they would reap a personal reward in their suicide.

What? No more musings from the egotist? Hmm..this might be a good time to sell my limited edition autographed copy of her novel that I'm not proud to own.

Interesting as to why the "Intellectuals" in this country respected this left-wing wing-nut.

NPR just had little discussion of her from it you would think she was T.S. Eliot/George Orwell/Sarte/Jane Fonda all rolled into one.

They really seem to think she is a Mainstream Intellectual Giant. Which is frightening and amusing at the same time.

C. S. Lewis wrote about a version of this, in the desire to fit in with the crowd. If you don't do this or that, you're not in fashion, you're not with the fashionable people, you're not "with it".

The leftists are the ultimate "with it" clique. If you don't agree with every line of leftist doctrine, you're not in with the in crowd.

I don't mean nasty personal things such as "it's great they died" etc...

How about,"The world became a better place today.".

"The leftists are the ultimate "with it" clique. If you don't agree with every line of leftist doctrine, you're not in with the in crowd"

When I see this type of mental co-ercion going on inspite of age old wisdom that cries out against the "so called fashions", I know that the Eve principle is in operation and that Satan is probably behind it all...the menatal "pressure" to conform is all most impossible to resist with out prayer and scripture...either mentally or verbally spoken out.

Jim Robinson would ban me if I spoke out loud about what I find beautiful in feminine women, especially my wife!
