LOL
Your is better than the one I was going to use, so I ....won't try to compete, I'll just enjoy yours.
Maybe it drifted from this Martian forest
Nah, it was carried in, Obviously a leftover crumb from a martian grubworm picnic.

Lets see... "wood", feelings of inferiority, anger, feelings of worthlessness, lahing out at others via Freepmail.... Im not sure what it all means...is there a psychiatrist around that can help?
I count 5
Aw, come on you guys, don't you recognize part of that Beagle spacecraft sent up by the Euros? They aren't exactly on the cutting edge, if you know what I mean. That looks like part of the foremast.
Your count is correct (for now).
Looks like Jules Verne made it there.
I actually had a run in in 1998 or 99 with a hard core freeper(old school)who didnt think you should post funny stuff...This was in Whitewater,Monica days... Humorous comments were just getting started.
The object is only about 1 to 1.5 feet long given the width of a rover wheel.
Here's my take now. The rover approached from the foreground and drove over a thin piece of that sedimentary rock. As the wheels went over it it rotated in the sand (or possibly even broke free of the parent mass), exposing the unweathered face similar to that shown in the upper right.
This crop is from the 1.9M image on the NASA site.
I would think an occasional humor break would have been required in those dark days.
And this thread is about a BOARD on Mars, for crying out loud. It was begging to not be taken series.
Your arrogant, condescending holier-than-thou crap doesn't float anyone's wood (boat) on FR.
If what we post is really out of line, Jim or a mod will tell us quick - we don't need you to police the forum with your sanctimonious attitude.
If a little light-hearted humor or sarcasm or parodies don't suit you, then stick with only the serious threads or find another forum. You're spamming of FReepers is considered by me and others as harassment. Cease and desist.
You posted the following in:
Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Hitting Teens (after golf ball hits her SUV)
"Does FR need a SUV section so you can vent your daily anger at those ____________ (whatever you consider them)?"
Now, I ask you:
Does FR need a WHINING COMPLAINT section so you can vent your daily anger at those __"inane comment"(s)__ (whatever you consider them)?
Apparently, you are the one who needs to grow-up, lighten up, & get a life.
Owned. ;)
???
This appears to be directed to me, and was a reply to my post.
That's odd... I got the same spam FRmail, by someone named Buffalo Head. Considering your earlier cranky posts to me today, it looked like you had written it. It had that same finger-wagging tone. You seem to have a pattern of "correcting" the humor of others.
Just an observation.
I joke about Mars lumber...not dead people
Of course not. Did you know that there is a necro-troll on this forum, who seems to be a friend or relative of quite a few tragedy victims? The troll always has the inside story, and is offended at posters for being so callous and insensitive.
The troll (and mods) will be very busy soon enough, considering the magnitude of this catastophe. "Heads" up.
This was NOT photoshopped or doctored up in any way I can find. At the moment I feel like somebody whacked me upside the head with whatever that is.
I've been examining it under high magnification, pixel by pixel, and what you see is exactly what you get. There is no "fringing" or "artifacts" you would normally find with a photoshopped image. If this is not a very elaborate terrestrial hoax, a lot of planetary astronomers are losing a lot of sleep right now.
If this image is legit, I'd have less problems dealing with a sock drawer full of live leprechauns. Previous Mars images have shown nothing better than signs of possible fluids, probably water since hydrogen is the most plentiful substance in the universe and oxygen is a total whore and will bond with anything; possible sedimentary rock formations; and some fibrous looking junk that might be primitive root hairs. About what was expected.
Now this photo and we haven't seen anything yet that would indicate sonmething like this would have Martian origin. Feast on the picture, folks. If it's real, a lot of accepted wisdom just went down in flames.
closeup
That looked like a face to me, too. One of them even had teeth
The photo probably is real, but I like Axenolith's hypothesis in post #129 that it may be a broken piece of sedimentary rock which was overturned when the rover rolled over it, exposing a darker unweathered side. This seems like the most probable explanation to me. I wonder what the NASA experts are thinking and doing on this - must be an interesting time for them.
LOL
Thanks
Yep. I spent some time going over this image in photoshop as well and i cannot find any type of doctoring at all.
If it's legit, you're right... astronomy is going to have some serious changes in the works.
LOL
What IS that thing?
