Brunswick, MD -- A Web-based group is seeking to convince Mark Sanford, the Republican Governor of South Carolina, to run for President in 2008, insisting that he is the GOP's best choice for President.
The site, founded by 19-year-old political science student Sean Wisnieski, has received thousands of hits since its inception in June of 2004; nearly 100 activists have signed the online petition.
"We're building a healthy network of conservative activists to spread the word about Governor Sanford," Wisnieski said. "He has a lot of grassroots appeal, and many true conservatives are getting energized about the prospect of his candidacy

SC Ping!
I love Sanford. Him and Tim Pawlenty are my top two choices for 2008.
If you would like for Governor Sanford to run in 2008, please visit the site and sign the petition. Also, please send it to family and friends that may like to sign the petition.
Thanks!
Sanford is the only politician I can say I voted *for*. Makes me proud to be from SC.
I really want Mark Sanford to run for President. Americans elect Governors, not Senators, to the White House.
I gotta say, those are good picks.
I always liked Pawlenty, I just started coming on to Sanford, the more I learn about him, the more I like him.
The 2008 is going to be a packed primary, unless the leftwing's circus freak show of a primary, we're going to have some top notch grade A quality.
(Just received his book, The Trust Committed to Me.)
Yup!!
Inviting all to my ping list for Sanford for Pres!
Pawlenty's a good choice also. If Sanford comes out strong on immigration (like a toned-down Tancredo) he wins hands-down.
His congressional record on immigration was OK (not great), but to be fair to the man, he did only serve 3 terms in a time where illegal immigration was somewhat on the back burner. His voting record, however, shows that he did not support amnesty programs from what I have seen.
I saw that too!
Hasn't Sanford already said no to any thoughts of running?
I think he is great, but not well known enough nationally. 2012 maybe.
He didn't say no, he just said he hadn't thought about it.
