I saw this same news segment and threw my tortilla at the TV.
Indeed, the ENTIRE EUROPEAN UNION- with twice our population- pledged only 4 million dollars.
The US has pledged 15 million, the last I heard. We will probably pledge more, too.
When our communities have been leveled by hurricanes or earthquakes, when was the last time ANYBODY offered us assistance? REALLY?
When there has been a catastrophic calamity, when have we NOT offered ample assistance?
I want to tell these UN pricks exactly where they can stick it.
our towers were attacked and the rest of the world laughed. when we provide them with aid they laugh too.
Not to mention all the private dollars that US cistizens will send into the International Red Cross. Personally, I quit sending $$$ to the Red Cross (American or otherwise) when they started discussing spending the 9/11 funds on projects other than 9/11 projects.
On another note, Dan Rather just reported how tsunami dangers are likely to increase in the future because of global warming...any minute now the U.S. will get blamed for this...sigh...
not quite correct, the ORGANIZATION called EU pledged 4 million dollars, but a small member state such as, say, the Netherlands, has already pledged 3 million, and other member states are also doing that. Do not confuse the EU and it's member states. Thank you :-)
