FALLUJAH RESETTLEMENT UPDATE
FALLUJAH, Iraq -- More than 480 residents returned to their homes in the Al Andalus district of the city under the supervision of Iraqi and U.S. forces on Dec. 24, which brought to 1,404 the total number of residents who have returned to the city in the past two days.
Additionally, 467 vehicles, 18 contractors and workers entered the city Dec. 24 bringing the total number of vehicles to 632 and the total number of contractors and workers to 214 entering the city over the past two days.
Lastly, two people were detained and 82 others were turned away, bringing the total number of people detained to 3 and total number of people turned away to 125 over the past two days.
Residents who do not show proof of residency in the Al Andalus district are turned away.
Although only six people have visited the humanitarian assistance sites, two humanitarian sites are established and stocked with food and water, and are prepared to offer limited medical care.
The I Marine Expeditionary Force and Iraqi Security Forces are prepared to support the interim Iraqi government's district-by-district return of citizens to Fallujah.
