A French journalist held hostage in Iraq for four months says his captors wanted U.S. President George W. Bush re-elected because it would help promote their cause.

Georges Malbrunot, who was released Tuesday along with fellow journalist Christian Chesnot, told CNN the Iraqi militants "need someone tough against them, it's like boxing."

Not neccessarily. Arab terrorists are about the most foolish and cowardly of all people. It's a possibility this group is gullible enough to believe what they hear.

Oh sure, like how Tyson would rather fight Holyfield than Peter McNeely. Actually its more like Michael Grant would rather fight Vitali Klitschko than Peter McNeely.

Remember the saying "be careful what you wish for..."

Well, they got what they wished for.

Take a good look at those two, they were NOT suffering as captives. They are both in good weight and look healthy, that's not exactly the shape that others who were "captured" were in. IMHO, these guys just went on a little adventure, shared the road with their "kidnappers" and generally had a great time. Probably have some good pictures of the terrorists as well.

Absulutely. These guys were good copped by these terrorist thugs in order to keep France on their side of the war, period. I am convinced that this insurgency is being directed either from Europe or Syria/Iran. There is a presumption among Europeans that at the end of the day, these" noble freedom fighters" will spare them because they will see that they both share the same idiological bent on "punishing America" and that their advancement of a progressive idiology of socialistic utopia is being hampered by "American Imperialism". Unfortunately, Europeans (especially those of a leftist persuasion) are considered as "Usefull idiots" by these terrorist groups in order to advance their cause.

I have severe doubts about whether these two were actually hostages in the first places so I would not believe a word they say.

OBL supported John Fallujah Kerry. His speech before the election was based in the same lies than Fahrenheit 9/11.

I agree. They don't look at all stressed, haggard, gaunt. The whole thing is a standard CNN portion of Bravo Sierra.

The two french jokers pulled a media stunt, and of course the terrorists are known to love to exploit the 'sympathetic media'.
