Yah it seems like the fabled PHOENIX PROJECT just kept on rollin' all these years.

Thanks for the compliment, but they always seem to make me blush and sorta scuff my toe in the dust and say awwww shucks. Which is to say thanks, but I really don't deserve it. There are folks here: Old Sarge, judicial meanz; HipShot; Mossad1967 and MANY others (and I suspect YOU, too) who are truly deserving of all the thanks we can give them for their service prior and current. But....thanks anyway.

With the advantage of hindsight, Phoenix, was a cock-up, due respect to William C., and others. Errors of execution were made with respect to person, time and place. General Giap's book had been read and understood, but a counter policy/program was difficult to develop. The OSS templates were old, and not particularly relevant. But we had to start somewhere. We can see that the terrorists have a learning curve. We also have a learning curve. I assume that Phoenix has been weighed and parsed and evaluated to a considerable extent. The current, tactical outcomes may resemble Phoenix, but the process is very different as are our longer term goals, i.e., elections, the elevation of women to second class citizens from the level of beasts and other Islamic heresies.
