I think it's going to be human error. The night crew didn't throw the switch is my guess. In fact, Peter Jennings reported last night that ABC had learned that was the cause.

I don't watch the MSM and don't know how ABC would know this when presumably the NTSB doesn't know, and of course, we're all used to the "mistakes" they make in the media.

I've been giving more complete updates on this thread:

Sorry if I'm repeating myself on your thread but it's expected when those 5,400 people go back home they will find the chlorine gas corroded the a/c units, cars, house siding, fabrics in their homes, etc.

The first responders watched their hands blister and still they drove on. A man who was awakened in his house near the crash site watched his clothes turn white as he struggled to breath. His cell phone literally disintigrated in his hand, so you can imagine what it does to soft tissue.

As I hear pertinent updates that you may be interested in, I'll post it here.

What do you think about that WND article? bbl

Death Toll Now 9 In S.C. Train Wreck

The body of the ninth victim was found inside a textile plant.

Residents forced out of their homes by the toxic gas leak won't be allowed back until at least Tuesday. Crews are working to patch the hole in the damaged tanker car and pump out the remaining gas.

Most people in the town of 5,800 have been evacuated. The railroad is paying for hotel rooms and giving residents $100 Wal-Mart gift cards.

But some people are staying in their homes. One man who remained in his house just three blocks from the wreck said towels stuffed under the doors and plastic on the windows will keep out fumes.

She did not reveal much about what was said during the interview, but she said that before 7 p.m. Wednesday, the crew parked rail cars to make sure they were clear of railroad crossings, and needed to go off-duty.

A manual switch, responsible for diverting trains from the main line onto the side track, was later "lined and locked."

"What we know is what we found from our direct examination," she said. "We know that the switch was lined and locked for the siding."

She said she could not answer a question about whether the men had attorneys with them during their interviews with the NTSB.
