FBI probes death of Jewish terrorism expert (12/8/04)

The FBI is investigating the mysterious death of a young American Jewish terrorism expert who worked at a think tank where research into Islamic extremism has drawn death threats, family and friends said.
Jason Korsower, 29, died in his sleep in his Washington apartment on Friday, November 26, after returning from Thanksgiving celebrations with his family in his native Atlanta....
WASHINGTON Shoulder-fired missiles are a threat to civilian jetliners, but putting antimissile defenses on planes is far too expensive to be practical now, according to a study by RAND, the private U.S. research organization.
"Al Qaeda and its affiliates have both the motive and the means to bring down U.S. commercial aircraft with shoulder-fired missiles," says the study, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times before its pending release by RAND on Tuesday. "No such attempt has been made yet against a U.S. carrier, but given the measures being taken to preclude 9/11-style attacks, the use of Manpads" - Man Portable Air Defense Systems - "will unavoidably become more attractive to terrorists."

Thank you all4one.

My niece is heavily into anime. I'm going to see if she has seen anything unusual going on in her circle.
Excellent idea SlowBoat. Anime is prevalent on various ME forums. One forum won't have it but it will have links to other forums that do. It could be just the youngsters but you never know.
India, China begin talks on WMDs
By Our Correspondent
NEW DELHI, Jan 24: India and China kicked off their first strategic dialogue here on Monday, highlighting regional stability as a key objective while sharing the fear that weapons of mass destruction could fall into the hands of non-state players.
The talks between Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Wu Dawei and Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran were the first in a series that will look beyond boundary disputes between the Asian rivals and focus on regional and global security issues and growing economic cooperation.
"Among the important international and regional issues discussed were the issues of globalization, democratization of international relations, UN reforms, non-proliferation, terrorism, situation in the Korean Peninsula," Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said after Monday's talks.
He said regional cooperation was also discussed, an indication that India's ties with Pakistan were also taken up for review. China was the first country to welcome the announcement of the Nov 2003 cease fire along the Line of Control in Kashmir.
Diplomatic circles have been wanting to get to the bottom of accusations by both sides of the other violating the cease fire during the past week.
"The two countries shared the view that terrorism, in particular the possibility of weapons of mass destruction and sensitive technologies falling in the hands of terrorists, presented a grave threat and recognized the importance of international cooperation in meeting the threat," Mr Sarna said.
"They also agreed that these dangers could not be tackled unilaterally." Both sides also agreed that the current international situation characterized by globalization presented an opportunity as well as posed a challenge.
They agreed that the forthcoming visit of Premier Wen Jiabao to India would be a major milestone in bilateral relations. Both sides indicated their readiness to closely work together to ensure a substantive outcome of the visit.
Several ideas were discussed. It was agreed that discussions between the two foreign ministries would continue to prepare for the visit. The two sides emphasized the need for making international relations democratic.
You betcha you can!
I just talked to my niece. The page in question is a defunct web page for a childrens' television network or production studio. The show being advertised is "UFO Princess Valkyrie". Standard anime stuff, according to my niece.
In the storyline of the show, an alien spacecraft crashes into a bath house and a shrine. The crash is ignored but aliens come out and wreak "cute" havoc. My niece says it's pretty typical anime stuff, and I don't think it was selected for any other reason than it was an available site.
It looks like they're trolling for dead web sites and using them to piggyback their stuff.
How can CAIR complain? Countless website dedicated to sons and daughters who are urged to become suicide bombers. The truth really does hurt them.

They want to kill Americans, Christians, Jews, coalition forces, contractors working to rebuild Iraq, Iraqi and other civilians trying to rebuild Iraq and as much as speaking to "infidels" or "Kafirs" results in a death warrant, but they claim THEY are persecuted. Pity party being planned as we speak. Perhaps one day if they ever decided to help reign in known insurgents and jihadis, creedance to their claims would be understandable and deserved.
What's the deal with all the Microbiologists getting wacked? I'm starting to think conspiracy!
No conspiracy, this has been going on for about as long as TM has been here.
