The Threat Matrix
The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.
"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."
We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research. |

WASHINGTON - A terrorist attack on a tanker loaded with liquefied natural gas could cause massive damage a third of a mile away and could send a vapor cloud billowing more than 1.5 miles, government scientists say. With the the nation clamoring for more natural gas, policy-makers are trying to figure out how to safely import large quantities of liquefied natural gas or LNG.

Saudi mosque 'bombing bid foiled'
Thursday 20 January 2005, 15:19 Makka Time, 12:19 GMT
Saudi security forces are hunting three men suspected to be al-Qaida members after thwarting what they believe was an attempt to blow up a mosque in the kingdom, a newspaper said.
Acting on a tip-off late on Wednesday night that three men were behaving suspiciously near a mosque, police converged on al-Muwaya area but the suspects fled, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported on its website.
The three, referred to by police as members of a deviant group - usually a reference to Usama bin Ladin's al-Qaida which is seeking to overthrow the Saudi ruling family - fled in a white jeep, the paper said.

Vineyarders asked to help on biodefense against tularemia
January 13, 2005
By Nelson Sigelman
Marthas Vineyard may appear to be far removed from the war on terror, but next week Islanders will be asked to enlist in the broad effort to shore up the nations defense against biological attack as part of a research project to develop a vaccine against tularemia.
snip
According to a Jan. 9 news story by Paul Rincon, BBC News science reporter, about a soon-to-be-published report in Nature Genetics, a scientific journal, scientists have unlocked the genetic code of Francisella tularensis, which the report described as one of the most infectious human pathogens known. A small number of bacteria (10-50 organisms) can cause the disease, making it an attractive agent for terrorists.
The World Health Organization estimates that airborne dispersal of 50 kg (110 pounds) of F.tularensis over an urban area with 5 million inhabitants would kill 19,000 people and incapacitate a further 250,000, said the report.

PARIS: In little more than three years since the attacks that shattered the World Trade Center in New York, Arabic has imposed itself as the fastest-growing foreign language studied in the United States. It took just four months after the towers collapsed for the number of American students of Arabic to double, according to the U.S.-based Modern Language Association

Taliban reject talks with US: report
ISLAMABAD, Jan 20: Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar has rejected negotiations with US-led forces and the Afghan government and vowed to continue his "holy war", a statement purportedly from the radical cleric said on Thursday.
Mullah Omar, who has evaded a manhunt since his regime was ousted in late 2001 by US-led forces, was apparently referring to indications by President Hamid Karzai that Taliban footsoldiers could be offered an amnesty.
"It is astonishing that on the one hand aggressor armies have occupied our country and on the other they are talking about negotiations with Taliban," Omar said in a statement sent to the private Afghan Islamic Press.
"Taliban are not ready for any negotiations while there is even one aggressor soldier present in the sacred land of Afghanistan," Omar said in an unsigned, computer-composed fax in Pushto.
The statement came on the eve of the Muslim holy day of Eidul Azha. Statements said to be from Omar arrive at Pakistani media offices the day before most religious festivals.
Mullah Omar rejected the suggestions of talks with Taliban as "lies and baseless" and said the militia's members believe in "jihad", or holy war, as a way of life for Muslims.-AFP

FoxNews just had a reporter in Boston talking about this story. The reporter said pretty much what we already know, but, they are keeping the story alive.
