"Christians flee genocide as fear sweeps Iraq"
By Jack Fairweather at St Matthew's Monastery near Mosul
(Filed: 08/01/2005)
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "This thinning of the ranks has taken centuries, he said, but in the valleys Iraq's Christian community, targeted with especial ferocity by Islamic extremists for the past year, is disappearing rapidly.
Churches have been bombed, priests kidnapped and Christian neighbourhoods subjected to random shootings, the terrorists' revenge for the community's shared religion with the "Christian" invaders.
According to Church leaders, some 300,000 Christians - roughly a quarter of the population - have fled their homes since the US-led invasion.
It is too early to speak of a humanitarian crisis, with many from the community, one of Iraq's more affluent, able to leave the country in civilised fashion or find shelter in the Kurdish-controlled north. But in the minds of Church leaders there is little doubt as to the nature of the exodus.
"It's genocide. You can see it with your own eyes," said Bishop Putres Harbori, head of the Christian community in Dohuk, near the Turkish border, where 350 families have found sanctuary."
I recognize some of those names.
I'll check out that link.
THANKS Velveeta.
Wondering if Dateline remembers this??
It's just an observation.
Yep.
Thanks, Velveeta, I hadn't seen that one.
I have a huge source of message groups in the UK if you're interested.
LOL. We can't have a TMer miss a story now....can we?
Happy to oblige.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Water is being released from several area dams as officials prepare for more rain throughout the day.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting controlled water releases from the Alum Creek and Delaware dams. About 8.5 feet of water is gradually being released from the Delaware Dam, which will raise the water level of the Olentangy River.

Contingency plans being made at The Ohio State University and in downtown Columbus. Worthington, Clintonville, the OSU Campus area need to be on the lookout.
I still have trouble reconciling that OBL would associate with these infidels? They stretch the adage 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' to the limit.
Good. Then I'm glad there's a new one for your list. :-)
For a part 2 episode?
I'd venture to guess Dateline does remember.
Sure! Thanks.
OMG, they had him and RELEASED him??
re: FedEx Trucks Stolen. A couple of days ago, I saw something on the highway that struck me as very odd. I was passing a FedEx semi tractor with tandem trailers. On the rear trailer, in place of the license plate, was a handmade tag that said "Missing Plate #XXXXXX". I have seen cars with a similar tag, but never a semi, and certainly never a FedEx truck.

That sounds like it's worth reporting.
