Take care and stay prepared.
On Dec. 21, a terrorist blew himself up in the U.S. military mess hall in Mosul, in northern Iraq. Twenty-two people were killed, including U.S. soldiers and contractors.
And now comes big news: The perpetrator was the oldest son of a diplomat from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, our alleged ally in the War on Terror.
On Monday, the Saudi-owned daily Asharq Al-Awsat identified the butcher responsible: 20-year old Ahmad Sayyid Ahmad al-Ghamdi, a Saudi medical student.

Will do. We feel safe here...better than in the car. There are so many roadblocks we're just staying here and so are all our neighbors.
No one has even mentioned that we should evacuate in this area so we'll just stay put.
Governor Sanford says there are a number of deaths and he saw a body lying outside a plant near the crash site and there is fear there are more inside.
Peach, kudos for being very calm through today but why wait for evacuation orders?
Do you really want to be in that neck of the woods when there is clearer air elsewhere? The sooner you leave the better IMO.
stay safe,
-skeggs
I retract my statement if you feel safer there, (just saw your post, apologies)
-skeggs
I know what you mean but considering our location, they have repeatedly stated we are safer in our cars than driving in a car which is not nearly as airtight as our house.
The area immediately surrounding the crash site is being evacuated, mandatory, and curfew for town starts in one hour.
I'm a scaredie cat so if I felt there was any reason to leave, we would!
Oops - we cross-posted. Thanks for the concern!
Wellll, that's nice.
You're most welcome.
Their martyrdom 'permit' is in French!?!
US agrees to sell Hellfire missiles to Taiwan
Urdu Times(News): The United States has agreed to sell air-to-ground Hellfire missiles worth 50 million US dollars to Taiwan, US defence giant Lockheed Martin Corporation said Wednesday, a move expected to rile rival China.
"The US Army has executed a letter of agreement with Taiwan, setting the stage for the sale of more than 400 AGM-114M blast-fragmentation Hellfire rounds under a foreign military sales contract," the company said in a statement.
It would take the company about six months to produce the Hellfire missiles ordered by Taiwan.
The missiles will be mounted on Taiwan's Super Cobra AH-1W attack and OH-58D Kiowa Warrior scout helicopters.
I would think this sale would certainly heat things up with China. With our business, I have been there several times. I noticed the tremendous infrastructure, massive highways, bridges, etc., with very few people traveling on them. (the cities are another story) I asked our driver why this was so. His comment, "to move the military" I found that rather chilling.
The global chess pieces seem to be moving.
I just found, and posted, a more in depth article:
North Korea plans total mobilisation within 24 hours for war
Urdu Times(News): North Korea has issued plans for mobilisation of the entire country within 24 hours in the event of war and for protection of the communist state's leaders in underground bunkers, a South Korean newspaper said on Wednesday. The Kyunghyang Shinmun daily quoted what it said was leader Kim Jong-il's secret operations plan revised last April and addressed to key officials throughout the country.
"All sectors and units will execute the detailed war-time operations plan when a war is declared," a two-page directive included in the plan quoted Kim as saying.
North Korea is the world's most militarised country relative to population, with close to 1.2 million troops on active service.
"Issuing a detailed wartime operations plan to counter modern warfare conducted on land, air and sea carries the significance of putting all the party, the military and the public under one uniform command in preparation of contingency and to fully mobilise human and material resources of the country," Kim said.
A South Korean intelligence official said the plan as quoted by the paper was genuine but declined further comment.
Yep...some of the more active boards are in French.
Ok Peach.
You have a good head on your shoulders, but
I'm praying for you, too.
WASHINGTON, Jan 5: A new intelligence law, and now a court ruling, have further strengthened the US government's power to strip a person of his citizenship even if he committed the crime after naturalization.
A federal appeals court on Tuesday allowed the government to strip a Haitian-American restaurant owner of his citizenship even though he was indicted, arrested and convicted after naturalization.
Also on Tuesday, federal agents in Atlanta arrested a prominent Ethiopian human rights abuse suspect and put him in deportation proceedings, for the first time using legal powers granted under a newly-signed intelligence reform law.
Immigration lawyers say that the two developments can have far-reaching consequences for thousands of immigrants from Muslim countries who already complain that they have become terror suspects since the Sept 11, 2001 terrorist attacks believed to have been carried out by Muslim men.

MMA plans 500 rallies in Karachi
KARACHI, Jan 5: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) intends to organize 500 demonstrations in Karachi alone as part of its nationwide protest movement, beginning Jan 7, against Gen Musharraf's decision to continue holding offices of the president and COAS simultaneously.
This was announced by the MMA in a statement issued here on Wednesday. The demonstrations would be staged outside various mosques and other public places, it added.
Meanwhile, MMA legislators Mohammad Hussain Mahenti, Abdul Sattar Afghani and Mohammad Laique Khan said in a statement that the alliance would continue its peaceful democratic struggle for the restoration of real democracy and supremacy of the constitution.
They said that the MMA would not deter from playing its role in highlighting the desire and wish of people. The protest against the rulers' pro-American policies and measures was reflective of the same determination, they added. They alleged that Gen Musharraf wanted to strengthen his dictatorship in the country and was least interested in resolving the problems being faced by masses. -PPI
