Nope, not surprising at all. Disappointing that he hasn't come to his senses. I was trying to remain lady-like, hence the "dinglefritz" rather than...
Thanks for the links. This one about the US aid workers being expected to conform to Islamic garb really has me steamed.
Yes. Can the absurd get any more absurd? As my husband frequents says "Why let logic and reason enter into it".
ISLAMABAD, Jan 1, 2005: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) will hold a convention of its supreme council here on Sunday. It will be the first such meeting after Gen Pervez Musharraf formally announced to simultaneously retain offices of the president and chief of army staff.
The council, sources said, would chalk out its strategy in accordance with the latest situation. The council, they said, would also discuss the modalities of a joint struggle with the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD and other smaller parties.
The alliance, sources said, planned to mobilize the public by organizing what it termed a 'caravan' for the final round of the movement against the government.-PPI

Cops Track Laser Aimed At Cockpit
Laser Aimed At Police Helicopter Friday
Was Just One Of Several Incidents
Jan 1, 2005 4:02 pm US/Eastern
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) A laser beam was aimed at a police helicopter Friday - one of several incidents involving aircraft across the country in the past week - and federal authorities were questioning someone who had been at a house where they said the light had originated.
Officials said no one was hurt when the laser hit the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police helicopter as it flew over an area where a similar incident occurred Wednesday.
Soon after, Port Authority officials and the FBI went to a Parsippany, N.J., home where they had tracked the laser beam and are questioning a person there in connection with both incidents. Port Authority police spoksman Steve Coleman says so far no charges have been filed.
Police in the helicopter were trying to pinpoint the spot where three green lasers were pointed at a pilot preparing to land a plane at Teterboro Airport on Wednesday night. The force's superintendent and some detectives were in the helicopter at the time.

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The State Ports Authority in Charleston has not received about $2.6 million of the $10 million it requested from the federal government for security projects, spokesman Byron Miller says.
The money already obtained has paid for a number of initiatives, including Project Seahawk, the nation's first port security command and control center, which will be based in Charleston, Miller said.

"Terrorists Fire Rocket Near Power Plant"
01:39 Jan 02, '05 / 21 Tevet 5765
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Arab terrorists Saturday continued to bombard Israel with mortar shelling and rockets, one of which exploded near a major power facility.
A Kassam rocket fell Friday south of the Ashkelon power plant, just north of Gaza and within Israel's pre-1967 borders. Critics of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's disengagement plan have pointed out that an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza would bring the power plant within striking range of Kassam rockets. The Ashkelon facility is Israel's major source of electricity besides the facility near Hadera, north of Tel Aviv.
Another Kassam exploded near the community dining room of a kibbutz (collective community) between Sderot and Gaza without causing injury, and one landed in a residential area in Sderot. Terrorists fired more than a dozen mortar shells since Friday despite the IDF's three-day-old Purple Iron offensive intended to combat such attacks."
