If we want oil we have to drill for it. Here or elsewhere. Me, I prefer we use our own.

Zogby is no longer a legitimate pollster. Stories about Zog. polls should be generally ignored.

Zogby? Who is that? And what an odd name for a pollster.

I find it hard to understand why the average American is so clueless as to the relationship between our need for middle east oil and the war on terror.
The more leverage these countries that breed and harbor terrorist have over our need for oil, the more likely the war against them will be compromised.
Oil profits funds their radicalism and keeps us from using heavy handed tactics to achieve our objectives.

I don't care if 100% are against it.
Bush needs to lead.
And drill.

Lexi Keogh, spokeswoman for the Alaska Wilderness League in Washington, D.C., said the poll results match earlier, independent polls, including a November 2002 poll by CBS News. Well, CBS News, now that's compelling.
Compelling me to dismiss this Zogby propaganda.
The caribou and I say drill.

Let's see... A poll by a lefty pollster, commissioned by an environMENTAL group - why would anybody doubt the results?

I don't care whether they drill ANWAR as long as they drill and exploit the hundreds of years of oil that is in California first.
I wish I could replace all the natural gas that has been taken from the oil platforms and stopped most of the natural oil seepage in California so the beaches would be again awash in tar like they were 60 years ago and make the enviros scream for drilling to clean up the beaches!

Arctic Power hasn't done any recent polling, but past efforts have found that 55 percent of Americans aren't even sure what ANWR is, he said.
55 percent sounds low to me. 75 per cent wouldn't have surprised me. I recently read an article that told of an elementary school TEACHER who thought Alaska was an island because it is always appears that way on maps of the USA, like Hawaii does.

This poll is probably accurate, because there's a lot of misinformation out there. The Democrats have been playing the environmental card against Bush and also have an interest in keeping us dependent on foreign oil while blaming it on Bush.
Yes, if people knew what the facts really were, they would favor drilling. But the MSM will make sure that they continue to be misinformed.

I think an important element missing here is: Private Property Rights.
There is no reason for the holding of government land. I couldn't care less about environmentalists.
All Federal Land should be sold at auction, OR returned to the people,(or descendants) from whom it was forcibly taken.
Or resume the Homestead Act, updated for corporate, rather than individual concerns.

Anyone can generate a poll to produce the results they want. The wording of the questions and the context of those questions in explaining the purpose of the poll all go to frame the respondents answers. If worded properly, a poll could produce the results that most people do not believe that man has never been to the moon.

Because a majority of people don't know that ANWAR looks like this:
90% of the time

" Previous questions were not released and Pete Rafle, spokesman for The Wilderness Society, said he did not know what they were. "
BULL $#!* but he doesn't need to tell us, we already know what they were.
Question 1) In light of the fact that George W Bush and his oil buddies have lied to us in the past about the middle east do you trust them when it comes to ANWAR?
Question 2) Even though Mr. Bush and the Republicans refuse to support clean environmental legislation and also allow greedy corporations to squander our precious natural resources should we trust them on their environmental policies?
Question 3) Knowing that that rotten SOB Bush and his evil crony Repugnicans have ties to vile special interest energy groups that cheat and gouge their customers and rape the environment and will kill everyone on Earth within 10 years because of global warming, should we trust their energy policies?
Then once the poll respondent has absorbed these questions he is asked "Should we allow drilling in ANWAR?"
