Have you ever excavated in your yard, or maybe on the street? Even if you haven't you may be aware of a catch-all number to call. The reason this number is around is because there are thousands of underground utilities in any city, gas, water, power, ect. When you call this number you initiate what's called an UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT, or USA. The utitlities will then come out to the area of the dig and mark with spray paint where their lines are and mark them USA/GAS, and so on.
I work for a major utility and today I recieved a memo that at first seemed strange and then outraged me more than almost anything I've ever seen. It seems that some "residents" of the city are offended by the use of USA. That's right. USA, standing for UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT has offended enough people that all utilities in LA have been directed to discontinue its use or be subject to fines.
USA. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT.
This is deemed offensive in todays world. I need all LA area, and everybody else for that matter, Freepers to do something about this. I've never been so pissed off in my life.
In short, I feel like my country's been stolen.
A lot of people today sure have BIG self-confidence issues.

Any chance you could post the memo? Or give another source? This is too important to rely on hearsay.
Sounds like the Americns living in L.A are being intimadated by the occupation forces.

I'll post the memo on Monday. I didn't want to do any of this from work, as God knows what would happen in these people found out I was doing this much. But I will try to find a good, solid source.

Who directed this and by what authority can fines be levied?
What major utility company?
I am only aware of The phone company, Southern California Gas Co. and DWP (Dept of Water and Power) serving the city of Los Angeles.
I spent 25 years driving the streets of L.A. and saw markings for underground utilities at constrution locations and never saw any marked USA/anything. They were marked in different colors indicating the type of utility.
Please let us know what neighborhoods or localities this issue is coming up in and I'll get my activist friends down in OC to go on street tagging expeditions just to piss off the libs. I can imagine it's Santa Monica, Malibu, West Hollyweird, and Venice Beach that are the real problem. The East LA & Compton folks would care less about 'USA' on the street as most of them are ducking for cover 23 out of 24hours anyways.

You're not the only one. Gregior's "victory" through counting disqualified ballots goes against the very reasons this country was created in the first place. I wonder how long before vote-manufacturing becomes nation wide? What will it take to take our country back from the anti-american socialists?
