SEATTLE (AP) - Democrat Christine Gregoire has won the Washington governor's race by 130 votes over Republican Dino Rossi, according to final recount results from King County.
King County was the last county to report in the statewide hand recount, the third count of ballots in the governor's election. The election results have not been certified and probably will be challenged in court.
I say he should 'suck it up' and bow out. Rossi would be in great position for a Senate run against one of those Socialist NAGS who are in there now.
Of course this is easy for me to say, not living in Washington and voting for Rossi.
They can try, but it won't fly. As far as I know, only 2 counties remain to be counted. There's NO WAY they could credibily claim to find around 119,000 votes in the 2 counties left--that's just too many to come up with. A few hundred or even a few thousand altogether, but several tens of thousands is just too much to come up with without serious scrutiny by our side--where'd they come from, where were they all this time, do they match up with the registration numbers, etc etc etc. There'd be a million questions.
And unfortunately for the dems, they don't have 2-1 democrat to republican county election boards or a friendly Supreme Court in OH or a democrat-dominated state legislature that could try to put the fix in for them. Couldn't really find a more "worse" swing state for the election to come down to--for the democrats, that is!
OK! Was it ballot box 13 from LBJ County?
Things like this that are allowed to stand will ultimatly either be decided by civil war or will always continue.
There is no reason for the rats to stop doing it as there is no punishment whether they win or lose. Does anyone here really think that those who desire a communist type dictatorship here will cease such action by the mere "displeasure" of the Repubs?
Of course, the truth is that if the recount really had been the real thing, there was no way that the GOP would have won -- the Dems knew exactly how many votes they needed, and had the knowledge and expertise on how to get there. We wouldn't have had a chance.
I'm in Belltown also!!
We are a Banana Republic without Bananas!
"incredibly tight governors race"
Incredibly as in NOT CREDIBLE.
D@MN! I'm mad enough to spit nails, even here in SoCal about this.
You GOP folks up there, keep the faith and fight the good fight all the way to recall, revote, SCOTUS, whatever. And remember, come what may, that God still is sovereign, this is just a battle in the Big War....
I agree....there will be a backlash just like Thune beating Dashle....which was 1000 times better than just beating that weak chinned Tim Johnson!!! Tom, the Praerie Peanut was a HUGE trophy and payback.
For two hundred years, we've respected the election system because it is less arbitrary than force and a lot less messy.
But now one political party has no sense of history, no sense of what we will fall back to if we can't have elections anymore. Half the people in this country vote for barbarians, people who will destroy civilization to get their way.
Socialist crooks running roughshod over GOP milquetoasts.
The Washington state GOP is a laughingstock.
Even a moron can figure out that you don't let a rat county find new votes right up until the vote is certified.
Their mistake, and they will have to live with it.
No, the State Surpeme Court ruled in favor of the Republicans to NOT count the rejected ballots but the rats counted them anyway.
I may be wrong and would be glad if I am, but unfortunately I don't think this will happen. 2 years is a long time in politics, a lot of people have short memories, so this will probably seem like 'ancient' history to many of them. Also, the Senate seat in 2006 has nothing to do with this race. Plus, he'd be running against an incumbent democrat in a blue state, I don't think it'd be easy to knock Cantwell off. The people of WA might have been prepared to elect a republican for governor, but might be less inclined for a federal office like senator. The dynamic is different than what happened to Daschle, a highly visible, partisan democrat running in an overwhelming republican state during an election year.
The democrats now have their ill-gotten gain, but we got the big prize and there's nothing they can do to change that, and that's driving them nuts.
A case could certainly be made that Rossi in the US Senate would be more valuable to Republicans than having him elected as governor.
So does the Washington State GOP have a dog left in this fight or has the fat lady sung?

YOU'VE GOT IT RIGHT. TO ARMS! Armed with truth, lawsuits, boycotts, protests, prayer and picketing the fraudsters in their neighborhoods so they have their evil known.
A lot of the blame lies with the Rossi campaign. It was horribly run in Eastern Washington where all the GOP votes are. Had Rossi just kept up with Bush in terms of votes, there wouldn't have been a need for a first recount. Unfortunately, too many people didn't even know who Rossi was. He was consistently 4-5 points below Bush in every county. It's a shame. Democrat Governor, Democrat Senate, Democrat House. Lord help us!
