Howell must have changed quite a bit in the last 30 years. throughout the '70's and 80's it was Northern Klan Central. I used to spend summers around the Brighton area.

I imagine it is now just another suburb filled with McMansions.

I think the student historical club should hang a flag with the stars and bars on it, then explain that it means a respect for the importance of studying history to the members of the club. That way, there won't be any controversy.

After all, you should be careful about attaching just one meaning to a symbol, even if it's the meaning that 99% of the people attach to the symbol.
