Historic snowstorm/blizzard is striking the Ohio Valley. Paducah, KY has received over a foot of snow. Drifts are up to the hoods of cars. Many area roads across this state and surrounding states are either closed or impassable. Some areas have mandatory cufews now in effect.
Record breaking snowfall has been reported in Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Up to TWO FEET of snow has fallen in portions of Southern Illinois and Indiana.
A very large area of the country is under a Winter Storm Warning and Heavy Snowfall Warnings.
National Weather Service Meteorologists are saying this is a historic snowstorm event for these areas.
This event is similiar to the blizzard of 1978 here in Paducah, KY and much of Southern Illinois. We have actually surpassed the amounts of snow we had during that event.

If only Bush had signed Kyoto this never would have happened. /sarcasm
Ya'll getting any of this ?
I blame global warming.
Seriously though, keep safe. Be careful shoveling that heavy snow.
My front steps have disappeared. I can no longer see the wheels of vehicles. I have never seen snow this deep - This'll teach me to put some of the shopping off until the last minute.
We just had a blizzard blow thru- 40-55mph wind- foot of snow- just another day in Western Alaska!!
67°F and clear here. what's the worry?
Ditto here. Hasn't stopped snowing here all day. Looks like more snow for the next few days, then beginning Monday it will all melt! Watch out for flooding.
Nome?
Here in Central Kentucky we have about four inches of ice/snow mix, but they are predicting another four-to-six inches of snow before it is all over.
See what you're missing!! :)
It's nature's revenge on Ohio voters for supporting the candidate who hates the environment and refuses to ratify the Kyoto accords.
Because that cell of precipitation is heading my way .. but the weather folks here keep saying we are only going to get rain
Since the weather folks are wrong 90% of the time .. I'm not sure what to think
It's Rumsfeld's fault.
has he no shame?
No, it's a plot by Karl Rove to stop the recount in Ohio.
Gotcha. The man is diabolically brilliant!
Bush's first term: worst severe weather since the Great Depression!
