We follow most of this excellent advice as a matter of SOP.

Yep. For the most part, M-Pro 7, then Militec-1.

OK, I'm curious. When did the word "pistol" get redefined to mean only "semi-automatic handgun"? It's my understanding that revolvers are pistols, are they not?

Fellow FReepers. How do you feel about WD-40 as a firearm lubricant?

How do you feel about WD-40 as a firearm lubricant?NEVER EVER EVER!!!! WD-40 is a penetrant and it will seep into pistol primers and cause misfires!!

Does anyone use Break-Free? I'm no expert, but I use it on my Glock and it seems to work well.

I used Break Free when it first came out and the military finally caught on to it as well and they now issue the stuff. But technology advances and break free is no longer the high speed low drag stuff to have in a high grit environment like Iraq or our other sandbox adventure zones. Break Free is fine for domestic use on a self defense gun, as long as YOU'RE not in a high grit zone yourself!

I never had a problem using WD 40. Spray it down and wipe it off. With automatics, I would use a light coating of lithium grease on the slide and rail.

This will allow the Dunk-Kit to circulate through the action and remove the crud you can't reach with your toothbrush.
I would suggest using someone elses toothbrush.

I never had a problem using WD 40.What is the worst sound in the world? Hearing a click when you expected a BANG!
Just because it's never happened to you, doesn't mean it's not a common occurence. It does happen all the time. Speaking as an NRA Instructor, I strongly advise against it. There are PLENTY of products designed for this specific use: I use Rust Prevent but there are tons more.
