Wrong John Kerry Gets N.Y. Electoral Votes
NewsMax ^ | Dec 21, 2004

Thanks to a typo, Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry has gotten even fewer electoral votes than he thought he had.

That's because an error posted New York state's 31 electoral votes over to somebody named "John L. Kerry."

Sheepish state officials say they're rushing out corrected copies of New York's electoral documents. They admitted the mistake earlier today, after the official "certificate of vote" appeared on the National Archives Web site.

A New York state official says the ballots themselves are correct. But nobody noticed the document error.

Massachusetts Senator John F. Kerry carried New York as the Democratic nominee for president, but lost the national election to President Bush.

I'm not surprised that the New York electors would write an incorrect middle initial for John F. Kerry. Senator Kerry has always been conscious not to publicize anything that may point to a connection between him and President John F. Kennedy. That's also why Senator Kerry refused to talk about his military service (in Korea, I believe it was) until President Bush decided to make his service in the Texas Air National Guard the centerpiece of his campaign.

If you look closely Kerry is described as "of the State of Massachusetts."

Massachusetts is a Commonwealth, not a State.

A New York state official says the ballots themselves are correct.

I guess that answers the questions about who the votes will be credited to.

And several more voted for Pat Buchanan because they couldn't follow the arrows.

It wasn't Korea. It was Cambodia. You really should have listened more carefully to what he didn't say. LOL

NRO -
...This electoral-college mistake was not the only one for 2004. The press has widely noted that one of Minnesota's ten electoral votes was not cast for Kerry. However, the write-in electoral vote for president did not go to John Edwards, as was widely reported, but instead for someone named "John Ewards."

Thanks for the links. I tried to read their posts, but they don't make any sense. There's a disconnect in their brains.

On the other thread, dogbowl posted this:

A transcript of the DU posters trying to read:

"Didn't New York go to Kerry?"
"New York elected John F. Kerry."
"yes...and he get's the state's votes."
"And , the point is ????"
"Why are we looking at this? For encourgement? I don't get this."

I thought it was a very succint summation. LOL!!!
