The company, maybe, but isn't liberal Sen. Mark Dayton heir to the Dayton-Hudson stores group, that owns Target?
Target used to be owned by Dayton-Hudson. DHC is no more. It was renamed to Target Corporation in honor of the fact that Target (as opposed to the renamed and now divested Marshall-Fields as well as Mervyns) was keeping the entire company afloat.
While Mark Dayton doubtlessly owns stock in Target Corporation, my understanding is that he has no say in how the company runs itself.
