Democrats dreaming of a `buy blue' Christmas
BY COLLEEN MCCAIN NELSON
The Dallas Morning News
DALLAS - (KRT) - Some Democrats are hoping to have a blue, blue, blue Christmas this year.
Two left-leaning Web sites are urging like-minded consumers to "buy blue" and support companies that contributed to Democratic candidates this year.
It's another example of the hard feelings that remain after a bare-knuckle presidential campaign. Some still suffering from the post-election blues are hoping to parlay partisan frustration into support for pro-Democrat corporations.
"We want to use (John) Kerry supporters' feelings and emotions about the election and spur them to action," said Raven Brooks, who helped launch BuyBlue.org.
The founders of BuyBlue.org and ChoosetheBlue.com said they are simply suggesting that consumers consider where they spend their money. The sites categorize companies as red (Republican) or blue (Democratic) based on political contributions made by their executives, employees and political action committees.
According to their calculations, Costco's OK. But Wal-Mart and Target are too red for their tastes.
Bed Bath & Beyond is a good bet for Democrats, but Home Depot doesn't make the cut.

This use to be funny, but now it is down right sad.
Sad nothing, they just gave me a list of companies that I don't weant to do business with. All the blue lovers.
This is the most stupid, asinine idea yet from the party of tolerance and inclusiveness.
Wal-Mart red - I don't think so!
This red / blue color bs is very ironic since "red" traditionally meant communist.
Red USED to be used to indicate the CHALLENGER from the incumbant. Thus Bush should have been BLUE.
HOWEVER i suspect the media saw republicans as the challengers to their status.
Sell Red.
No really, what are they going to buy? Audubon Society memberships? Hillary bobblehead dolls?
This is a joke.
Can you post the link for the list, please?....:)

Hp is listed as "Blue" at www.choosetheblue.com. Dell is listed as an overwhelming "Red".
