Thanks for your kind reply. I also have a high regard for Catton.

You might stop in the FReeper Foxhole every now and then where several of us history buffs hang out.

Merry Christmas to you too!

This is not right or fair. Trolls need torture!

Couldn't agree more. A person must extract joy from life at every opportunity.

I would like to know how the question was worded. My guess is that the majority of the voters would have little understanding of what they were being asked. The re-election of GW Bush is much more of a referendum than a stupid poll.

Okay, then if I post this it will stay?

Got called away. Sorry about the delayed answer.

The problem was strictly with the returning troll, not this article's posting as such. However, now that it has been posted (and remains intact, save for a change ((bad mod!)) to the title), there's probably no point in re-posting.

The title now leads anyone reading it to believe it's a useless piece not even worthy of debate. Maybe you should change it back and see where it goes on it's own merit.

Election results say otherwise."""

Not necessarily. I'm sure I'm not the only one who voted for Bush while opposing the Iraq invasion. In fact, I know several others -- and this poll suggests there are millions in that category.

LOL

I think it looks more like disgust, but none the less, they're hilarious.

If you went to the same website I did, did you read the bit about "line" cut vs" lion" cut?

I look at the depravity of the world and what man is willing to do to man for money, power, or just for fun and I think that we were not worth it either. I am just glad that someone with deeper vision than me thought differently.

They are "old news"!
"And that's the way it is."

Good riddens to them.

If I remember my history, most "colonials" didn't think the Revolutionary War was worth fighting in 1776, and instead wanted to stay loyal to the King of England.

CONSIDER::: If the elections in Iraq next month are able to turn attitudes against the Sunni terrorist insurgents, and IF those attitudes begin to spread elsewhere in the MidEast, George W. Bush will go down in history as a global genius (even more than he is already.)

At the very least, President Bush has already set back the AlQaida terror networks (which were operating both inside and outside of Iraq before the war) at least five years and maybe more, while at the same time eliminating a genocidal maniac who was working to create nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.

Yes, the cost of 1200 lives of America's best and brightest young people is a heavy price to pay, but I am truly of the belief that if we had stopped our aggressiveness after Afghanistan, the Arab "street" would have viewed Bin Ladin's terror attacks as a big victory, and would have continued plotting more gruesome plans.

By taking out Saddam Hussein, a big big military hero among American and Israel hating Arabs, we have temporarily crushed their ethos.

We bent to the will of the UN and the international community when we let Saddam stay in power after the first gulf war. During those 12 years the Iraqi people suffered, especially Shiites, he spent their oil money on bribes and massive volumes of conventional weapons. And the world believed (maybe it will turn out rightly so) that he was making more WMD's for use against his own people, Israel, his neighbors and (after 9/11) the US. The US government before Bush43 huffed and puffed but took no real action against him. Not until W saw the likely possibility of a real threat from him based on an association with the AQ terrorists did we act, again justifiability, IMO.
