Is there anyone or any group that you would be offended to see Pope John Paul II reach out to?

Given that each human being is a child of God, and that John Paul II reached out to the Bulgarian who tried to kill him, the answer is no.

If that is indeed a direct quote from the pope, then I would applaud his clinical definition of life in socialist state.

"Legal recognition of homosexual unions or placing them on the same level as marriage would mean not only the approval of deviant behaviour, with the consequence of making it a model in present-day society, but would also obscure basic values which belong to the common inheritance of humanity. The Church cannot fail to defend these values, for the good of men and women and for the good of society itself.”

-- The Sovereign Pontiff John Paul II, March 28, 2003 "

Important criticism of socialism from the Church, given the trend to that point in S. America.

While it is not politically correct to hold such a view, yes I believe that will be necessary.

"I would guess that that ugly, stupid, cowardly action pushed many thousands of good people away from the Church.
I would guess that so few people know about the Pope kissing the Koran that its effect was, and is, negigible. In fact, I'd bet that not one single person left the Church at the time over it.

But, the Catholic haters (and I include the integrists in that group) continue to regurgitate a 20 year old act like a mother kangaroo puking up for her young.

It's reached the point of silliness."Thank you that is good what you write I do want know do persons know that Papiez Jan Pawel II want go to Moskwa he can not and Papiez want talk to Russia is that not good it is LOVE! Thank you

So if he made a public outreach to the Church of Scientology or the Church of Satan, as he did toward Muslim leaders or other pagans, you wouldn't be offended?

It is not only not politically correct, it can come back to haunt.

Restrict Muslims today, Christians may be restricted tomorrow.

It is to the credit of Americans that a majority do NOT want to restrict the rights of Muslim citizens who are minding their own business.

As the Vicar of Christ, reaching out to another human being, no.

How are pagans to be converted if no one reaches out to them?

Alright, be my guest and follow a leader that lends credence to the Satanic religion known as Islam by kissing their sacred book. Whether he did it yesterday or twenty years ago makes no difference.

I think that it is wonderful that 20 years ago the Pope helped to free us from communism.
However, this has nothing to do with the mistakes he has made as a man and my point was that I will not accept that this holy man planned to make the mistakes he did with a purpose.

He is only perfect in Dogma. When you saint him on Earth, you are going beyond your power. And being unrealistic.

I appreciate Karol W's opinion on this matter. Now when is he going to CLEAN OUT the seminaries of the soddomites?

>>He has a proven track record. Some of what he does may be difficult to understand, <<

In my eyes, you come close.

My Uncle is a Bishop. He once told a group of nuns who were literally petting a picture of JPII that they were wrong to act as if they worship him. You act as if all JPII mistakes have some secret plan behind them. I am more realistic. We all make mistakes, he is only infallable in Dogma.

Then I think you've misunderstood me. I did not address the other issues that may bother you. I have just tried to make the point that the Koran kissing event is something only John Paul II can explain, and has nothing to do with any sort of ecumenical welcoming of the Koran's doctrines. If you still disagree with that, it's OK with me. You're very welcome to your point of view on this or any other matter.
