Happy Impeachment Day, every one!
HTML??? Heck, I don't even know what that is!........*~*
Also I will never forget all the work Alamo-Girl did in putting all the facts into a book and then Freepers presenting it to the Senators.
Here is the article that was written up and put in a newspaper in regards to bcjohnson's passing away and his design.
On Jan.2, America lost a great patriot upon the death of Barry C. Johnson of Aberdeen. He had been active in Republican and Conservative politics for several years. But unlike many, he made a nation- wide impact on the political life of America.
During the impeachment trial of President Clinton, the web site Free Republic decided to post an ad in a Washington paper to show our support for the removal of the president. Johnson designed the artwork for the ad, which showed George Washington shedding a single tear. Members of Free Republic contributed thousands of dollars to place the full-page ad. When it ran, several House Impeach- ment Committee managers commented that the ad was an encouragement to them during the difficult days of the Senate trial.
I had the honor of meeting Johnson at Free Republic's House Managers Apprecia- tion Rally last May. He was a man who loved his nation, his state and his community. We will miss him.

I still have my Wahington Post (or was it Times) newspaper thanks to Angelwood who was so willing to get copies and mail them to whoever wanted them.
Here is my favorite HTML lesson page.

ROTFLOL Gotta love FReeper creativity ;) BUMP Thanks for reminding us of this festive holiday!
Remember this day in history, my fellow Missourians? What a great day for us to meet! It is seared into my memory! LOL
Happy Impeachment Anniversary!
It was the Washington Times. The full page color ad was designed by several Freepers over a period of several hours and cost just over $10K. I was hoping someone would post it for the benefit of those who have joined FR since Impeachment Day.
When I was a kid I got the sense that Nixon's impeachment was a HUGE deal, but in the case of Clinton I felt the news media were trying to treat it like a completely politically-motivated move, and thus not as important.
If I read that wrong, let me know, but I found it very curious.
time flies!
In this case, the media loathed reporting anything negative about Clinton. The zeal with which they went after Clinton pales when compared to their zeal to run Nixon out of office.
The Republican House leadership failed the country by not conducting independent impeachment hearings that encompassed more than the Starr report. Also, by waiting so long to start their investigation, they gave Clinton time to set a strategy of leaks and blackmail that worked public opinion to his advantage.
BTTT
"Momentous event...give us a break...."
Please, act reasonable. I'm just happy that Clinton didn't get away with what he did. What would you think if Clinton had just gotten away with it lock, stock and barrel and we were looking back on a bunch of compromised, useless members of Congress who just let it all slide through like they would have in France or some other such country. It WAS a momentous event when Clinton was impeached because a majority in Congress showed courage under fire, so to speak. I will always be proud of them for showing that courage in the face of a president like Clinton. If you can't share that, well, then that's just your problem if you would have rathered that the impeachment had failed.
Obviously, the Clinton years were the saddest of times, but this was one time I am proud of our Congress during that sad period.
"you must be a Clinton lover in drag"
Hah ... what a lame insult. Could that describe you by any chance???

VP Gore proved to be unable to follow his idol's advice; that failure cost him the Presidency.
Impeachment is something many Americans never can understand. They think that their hero, B.C., "got off." They do not understand that "impeachment" is a word that never leaves the public record. The fact that any Americans would see either Clinton as "heroic" means we may be doomed.

Excellent point, VP Gore put "party" above "self," and now he is scorned even my many in his "party." I would imagine that VP Gore feared for his life if he had challenged "our" president at the time. He was no Jefferson, who challenged John Adams!
