Harrison Ford may lead charge in Falluja movie

Friday, December 17, 2004 Posted: 6:53 PM EST (2353 GMT)

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Producers at Universal Pictures are developing what would be Hollywood's first feature film about the war in Iraq, with actor Harrison Ford ready to portray a U.S. general in the movie, the studio said on Friday.

The combat drama would be based on the upcoming book "No True Glory," an account of the battle for Falluja by Bing West, a Marine veteran and former U.S. assistant defense secretary now covering the war as a foreign correspondent, a studio spokesman said.

I can't see how this would be a good thing. I don't see Hollywood doing anything that casts the military in Iraq in a good light. And I don't think Harrison Ford (who I like as an actor) is free of the Hollywood mentality. Anyone know about this?

I heard Richard Gere will do a cameo during the Abu Grhaib hamster scene, and Striesand will be having fun with her friends, the terrorists. Anyone else have more info?

I saw this in the news. It does not look very good. It is also too soon to be having a movie out about this since no too much is known. It will just be a political puff piece.

I thought Three Kings wwas very good though, very hollywood and inaccurate but still good.

Mel Gibson should do it, not Ford.

Fallujah could make the best war movie ever if it were done right.

It could also be the biggest "end all war, hand out flowers and just appease all terrorists" movies ever if done by the Liberals.

I understand Alec Baldwin will revitalize his career by portraying an American Marine who stones several wounded prisoners to death.

I always thought they should do a movie about Gaza.
All the militants fighting against helicopters would make for great filming. You could show a non-political look at what happens there with the Imams and propaganda and the hopelessness of it all.

There's a basic problem with the premise.

As Holly-weird refuses to acknowledge that MUSLIMS are responsible for the TERRORISM, they'll naturally change the 'bad people' to some entity they think everyone can or will hate - Like Nazis, Corporate CEOs or.... REPUBLICANS.

As such I don't think a Fallujah scenario will work too well. I mean can you imagine the dialog?

See, it just doesn't work.

You, Mr. Ford, are no John Wayne.

When I saw the headline I assumed he was going to be cast as al-Zakhawri (sp?), but I guess Hollywood figures a movie which has our troops as the good guys will do better at the box office. Will Harrison Ford find some of the looted treasures from the Baghdad archaeological museum buried in Fallujah?

Maj. Gen. James N. Mattis, commander of the 1st Marine Division letter to his Marines.

This is who Ford will portray.

During the election, Harrison Ford was very anti-Bush and anti-war. No, it can't be a good thing if Ford is involved.

Don't you mean: understand Alec Baldwin will revitalize his career by portraying an American Marine who stones several wounded prisoners fellow Marines to death. in a crisis of conscience against the war and President Bush.

He needs to keep pace with the left-wing young'uns in Hollywood. Stay "hip." Or so he thinks, I guess.

THAT is the understatement of the year! This is the guy who said he was ashamed of our actions overseas and at the same time has never stopped whining about how all the firearms of Americans on home soil must be confiscated.....I prefer to simply think of him as either Indiana Jones or Jack Ryan when he's not in those characters. Like they're still off having other adventures and are the "good guys."
