From my readings on the McCarthy era, I think McCarthy was up against way too many that were already infiltrated in high places.
Now, if there was Net Access then, it may have been a different story. But too much of the media was infiltrated at the same time McCarthy was trying to get his message across.

Yes,,, I agree, if only, we had the Internet during Joe McCarthy's day.
But, we have has our champions of the march against Communism like Ronald Reagan.
